224th Aviation Regiment
The 224th Aviation Regiment is an aviation regiment of the U.S. Army National Guard. History The 224th Aviation was constituted on 1 October 1987 in the Maryland and Virginia Army National Guards as a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System, and organized from existing units to include the 1st Battalion and Companies D, E, and F, part of the 29th Infantry Division. On 1 September 1990 it was reorganized to include the 1st and 2nd Battalions, as well as Company F. The 2nd Battalion traces its lineage back to the 2nd Company of the Richmond Howitzers, and thus has American Civil War Confederate, World War I, and World War II campaign credit. On 31 March 1992 Company G was activated. On 1 September 1995 the regiment was reduced to 2nd Battalion and Company F. On 1 September 2000 Company G was transferred from the 29th Division. The Guam National Guard is a federally funded military force, part of the National Guard of the United States. Guam Army National Guard (GU ARNG) is the Army National Guard of Guam which, together with the Guam Air National Guard, comprises the Guam National Guard. Navy Unit Commendation
The Navy Unit Commendation (NUC) is a United States Navy unit award that was established by order of the Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal on 18 December 1944. History Navy and U.S. Marine Corps commands may recommend any Navy or Marine Corps unit for the NUC that has distinguished itself by outstanding heroism in action against the enemy, but not sufficient to justify the award of the Presidential Unit Citation. A unit must have performed service of a character comparable to that which would merit the award of a Silver Star Medal for heroism, or a Legion of Merit for non-combat meritorious service to an individual. Normal performance of duty or participation in many combat missions does not, in itself, justify the award. Ayn al Asad is an Iraqi Armed Forces base located in Al Anbar Governorate (also called Anbar province) of western Iraq. It was originally known as Qadisiyah Airbase. Al Anbar Governorate ( ar, محافظة الأنبار; ''muḥāfaẓat al-’Anbār''), or Anbar Province, is the largest governorate in Iraq by area. Marine Corps Air Station Yuma or MCAS Yuma is a United States Marine Corps air station. The Vermont National Guard is composed of the Vermont Army National Guard and the Vermont Air National Guard. Together, they are collectively known as the Green Mountain Boys. Both units use the original Revolutionary War-era Flag of the Green Mountain Boys as their banner. Their strength in 2009 was 2,660.
