2025 IFAF World Championship
The 2025 IFAF World Championship is the upcoming sixth instance of the IFAF World Championship for American football. In December 2018, the IFAF announced that the games, which were originally scheduled to be held in Wollongong, Australia, from 29 July 2019 to 5 August 2019, would be postponed to 2023 citing the large number of withdrawals from top nations. 2015 IFAF World Championship
The 2015 IFAF World Championship was the fifth instance of the IFAF World Championship, an international American football tournament. The United States hosted the tournament. Seven teams had confirmed their participation for the tournament in Canton, Ohio. The tournament was to be hosted by Stockholm, Sweden with all games to be taken place at the new Tele2 Arena, but on 19 December 2014, the local organizing committee for the Stockholm 2015 VM Amerikansk fotboll announced that it could not raise the sponsor structure to run the event and thus had to cancel. The IFAF World Championship of American Football (also known as the IFAF World Cup) is an international gridiron competition held every four years and contested by teams representing member nations. The competition is run by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), the international governing body for the sport. Seventy-one nations have a national American football team. The most recent tournament, in 2015, featured seven teams. The defending champions are the United States, who won the 2015 championship after winning both the 2007 and 2011 editions. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. United States National American Football Team
The United States national American football team represents the United States in international men's American football competitions. It is currently ranked no.1 in the IFAF. It is currently controlled by USA Football and is recognized by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). During the 2015 split between IFAF Paris and IFAF New York, in which IFAF Paris expelled USA Football in 2017. USA Football was replaced by the United States Federation of American Football in Paris, while New York retained USA Football as their active member. 2011 IFAF World Championship
The 2011 IFAF World Championship was the fourth instance of the IFAF World Championship, an international American football tournament. It began on July 8, 2011 with the final games commencing on July 16. It was hosted by Austria, with games taking place in three cities: Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz; Vienna hosted the medal games. Austria won the bid to host the games. There were a record number of attendees at the 2009 IFAF Congress, the meeting which decided the host nation. The format was changed for 2011: for the first time, eight qualifying teams were divided into two groups, with the group winners competing for the Championship.
