2024 NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 2024 NCAA National Collegiate women's ice hockey tournament was a single-elimination tournament by eleven schools to determine the national champion of women's NCAA Division I college ice hockey. This was the third year the tournament features an expanded field of 11 teams. The first round and quarterfinals were played on the campuses of the top 4 seeded teams on March 14 and 16, 2024, while the Frozen Four was played on March 22 and 24, 2024 at the Whittemore Center in Durham, New Hampshire. The Ohio State Buckeyes women's ice hockey, Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey, Wisconsin Badgers 1–0 to claim their 2nd national championship. Qualifying teams In the third year under this qualification format, the winners of all five Division I conference tournaments received automatic berths to the NCAA tournament. Whittemore Center
Whittemore Center Arena, known colloquially as The Whitt, is a multi-purpose arena in Durham, New Hampshire, United States, on the campus of the University of New Hampshire. It was built for $30 million and opened in November 1995. It was dedicated to Frederick B. Whittemore and his family on May 5, 1996. It is adjacent to its predecessor, Snively Arena, which is still standing and is used as a recreation facility. It is also adjacent to Durham's Amtrak station, and it is across the street from Wildcat Stadium. The arena is home to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats men's and women's ice hockey teams. The hockey rink originally had a full Olympic-sized sheet of ice, but the rink was reduced slightly to "NHL size" during a 2022 renovation. In 2002, 2005 and 2016, UNH and the Whittemore Center hosted the NCAA Women's Frozen Four. The arena can seat 6,501 for hockey and basketball games, and 7,200 for concerts and similar events.
