2024 Austin Mayoral Election
The 2024 Austin mayoral election will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect the next mayor of Austin, Texas. The election is nonpartisan; candidates' party affiliations will not appear on the ballot. Incumbent mayor Kirk Watson is running for re-election, after returning to the position of mayor following the 2022 election. Due to the passage of Prop D in 2021, this is the first Austin mayoral election to coincide with a presidential election. The Texas Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of Texas and one of the two major political parties in the state. The party's headquarters are in Austin, Texas. The mayor is included as a member of the council and presides over all council meetings and ceremonies. The current mayor of Austin is Steve Adler.
