2023–24 Premiership Women's Rugby
The 2023–24 Premiership Women's Rugby is the seventh season of Premiership Women's Rugby, the top-flight domestic women's rugby union club competition in England. Sponsored by Allianz for the fourth consecutive season, it is the first season under the rebranded banner of Premiership Women's Rugby, succeeding six seasons under Premier 15s branding. Teams and locations In December 2022, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Women's Premier 15 Ltd (WP15) confirmed that eight clubs had been offered a place in the 2023–24 season. Four clubs from the 2022–23 season were omitted; DMP Sharks, Sale Sharks Women, University of Worcester Warriors, and Wasps Women. Two new clubs to the competition were named; Trailfinders Women and Leicester Tigers Women. Harlequins Women
Harlequins Women, formerly known as Harlequins Ladies, are a women's rugby union club based in Guildford, Surrey, England and in Twickenham, Middlesex, England. They were founded in 1995 as the women's team of Harlequin F.C. and rebranded in 2017 after merging with Aylesford Bulls. In 2017, they were selected as one of the franchises for the new Premier 15s league, but they also cater for new, aspiring and social players within their 3rd XV squad. History Beginnings Harlequins Ladies were founded in 1995 as the women's team of Harlequin F.C. Trailfinders Women
Trailfinders Women are a professional women's rugby union club based in Ealing, Greater London. They currently compete in Premiership Women's Rugby, the highest division of women's rugby union in England. History Amateur side In the 2010–11 season, Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club operated an amateur women's side, Ealing Jades Ladies, which competed in RFUW NC South East 1. They finished 7th place out of the 8 teams. The team did not appear again until the 2021–22 Women's NC 3 South East (Central) season when they were known as Ealing Trailfinders Ladies and they finished at the bottom of the table. In 2022–23, they competed in Women's National Challenge 3 South East (West) when they finished in 5th place. Abbie Ward
Abbie Ward (née Scott, born 27 March 1993) is an English rugby union player. She plays at international level for England, having made her debut for the side in 2015. She currently plays for Bristol Bears Women at club level. International career Ward progressed through the England rugby training groups as a teenager and was part of the Under 20s England women's rugby team that won the U20 Nations Cup in 2011. She made her debut for the England seniors team in 2015, playing against Italy. Ward is a world cup finalist after being named in the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup squad for England. Amber Reed
Amber Reed (born 3 April 1991) is an English rugby union player. She won the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup as a member of 's squad and was selected for the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup squad. She currently also plays for Bristol Bears. International career Reed debuted for the England Women's rugby team in 2012 against France, having previously played for the national side's Under 20s team. In 2014, she won the Women's Rugby World Cup with England. Reed went on to play every match in the 2017 Six Nations, in which England won the Grand Slam. She was also selected for the England World Cup team in 2017; the side lost in the final to New Zealand. David Patrick Ward (born 21 May 1985) is an English rugby union player for Premiership side Harlequins, and Head Coach of Bristol Bears Women. A hooker, Ward has previously played for Ampthill RUFC, Sale Sharks, Northampton Saints, Bath Rugby and the Cornish Pirates. At international level he has represented the England under-18s, under-21s and Saxons. Bristol Bears Women, formerly Clifton Ladies RFC, then Bristol Ladies, is a women's rugby union team based in Bristol, England. They are a standalone, independent rugby club, running in partnership with the Bristol Bears (formerly Bristol Rugby) since becoming affiliated to them in 2008 and play their home matches at Dings RFC in the Premier 15s. History Bristol Ladies were founded as Clifton Ladies RFC in 1984 for what was intended as a one-off match against Weston Hornets.
