2023 Washington Nationals Season
The 2023 Washington Nationals season is the Nationals' 19th season as the Major League Baseball franchise in the District of Columbia, the 16th season at Nationals Park, and the 55th since the original team was started in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Nationals are led by Dave Martinez in his sixth year as manager. They are members of the National League East division. Previous season The Nationals finished the 2022 season with an MLB-worst record of 55–107. They finished in last place in the NL East, 46 games out of first. Offseason The Nationals entered the offseason with seven pending free agents: pitchers Steve Cishek, Sean Doolittle, Will Harris, Erasmo Ramírez, Joe Ross, and Aníbal Sánchez, and infielder/outfielder César Hernández. National League East
The National League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. Along with the American League Central it is one of two divisions to have every member win at least one World Series title. The division was created when the National League (along with the American League) added two expansion teams and divided into two divisions, East and West effective for the 1969 season. The National League's geographical alignment was rather peculiar as its partitioning was really more north and south instead of east and west. Two teams in the Eastern Time Zone, the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds, were in the same division as teams on the Pacific coast. This was due to the demands of the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, who refused to support expansion unless they were promised they would be kept together in the newly created East division. Will Harris (baseball)
William Taylor Harris (born August 28, 1984) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. He made his major league debut in 2012. From Houston, Texas, Harris played college baseball for Louisiana State University (LSU). The Rockies selected him in the ninth round of the 2006 MLB draft. As a member of the Astros, Harris won been named an American League All-Star (2016), won the 2017 World Series, and, in 2019, pitched in both a combined no-hitter and immaculate inning. Kyle Finnegan
Kyle Edward Finnegan (born September 4, 1991) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Amateur career Finnegan attended Kingwood High School in Kingwood, Texas. He earned all-district first team honors while helping his team to a 27–7 mark as a senior and a district championship. Finnegan also played in the HABCA All-Star Game. Finnegan enrolled at Texas State University. As a freshman, he had a 1–0 win–loss record, a 6.97 earned run average (ERA), struck out four batters in 10 1/3 innings of work. Luke Voit
Louis Linwood Voit III (born February 13, 1991) is an American professional baseball first baseman who is a free agent. He has previously played in MLB for the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. Erick James Fedde (born February 25, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the NC Dinos of the KBO League. He previously played for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at UNLV. Amateur career Fedde attended Las Vegas High School in Sunrise Manor, Nevada. Felipe "Tres" Barrera III (born September 15, 1994) is an American professional baseball catcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Washington Nationals.
