2023 Suncorp Super Netball Season
The 2023 Suncorp Super Netball season was the seventh season of the premier Netball in Australia, netball league in Australia. The season commenced on Saturday 18 March and concluded with the Grand Final on Saturday 8 July at John Cain Arena. The defending premiers were the West Coast Fever, who were eliminated in the Preliminary Final by the New South Wales Swifts. The Adelaide Thunderbirds won their first premiership in 10 years, narrowly defeating the New South Wales Swifts 60-59 after an extra time Grand Final thriller. This season was the last season to feature the Collingwood Magpies (netball), Collingwood Magpies, who withdrew from the competition at the end of the season due to financial difficulties. Suncorp Super Netball
Suncorp Super Netball is the top level netball league featuring teams from Australia. In 2017 it replaced the ANZ Championship, which also included teams from New Zealand, as the top level netball league in Australia. Since 2019, the league has been governed, on behalf of Netball Australia, by an independent commission. Its main sponsor is Suncorp Group. In 2017, Sunshine Coast Lightning were the inaugural Suncorp Super Netball winners. Maddie Hay (born 11 April 1995) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for Giants Netball. Hay grew up playing netball and representing New South Wales and Australia at various underage levels. She was a training partner at Giants Netball in 2018/19, though earned her debut in Round 1 of the 2019 season, briefly coming onto the court to replace an injured player. Jamie-Lee Price (born 10 January 1996) is an Australian netball player who has played for Giants Netball in the Suncorp Super Netball league since 2017. Prior to that, Price was with the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in the ANZ Championship. She was the youngest player in the trans-Tasman championship as of January 2013. Joanne Elizabeth Harten (born 21 March 1989) is a former England netball international. She was a member of the England team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She also sits on the board of the Australian Netball Players’ Association. In 2020 she received an for her services to netball. She was also a member of the England teams that won bronze medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the 2011, 2015 and 2019 Netball World Cups. Julie Fitzgerald
Julie Fitzgerald is a veteran Australian netball coach. Between 1997 and 2007, Fitzgerald served as head coach of Sydney Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. She guided Swifts to premierships in 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007. Between 2008 and 2011, she served as head coach of New South Wales Swifts in the ANZ Championship. Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre
The Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre is a tennis and multi-purpose sports facility located within the Olympic Park in Parramatta, near Sydney, Australia. The centre was built in 1999 and hosted the tennis events for the 2000 Summer Olympics. The venue hosted the Sydney International tournament from 2000 to 2019 and has hosted the ATP Cup since 2020. Kelsey Browne
Kelsey Browne (born 17 January 1992) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Collingwood Magpies. Career Browne began her professional netball career as a replacement player for the Melbourne Vixens in the 2015 ANZ Championship season. She played for the Victorian-based club for two seasons before having a breakout year in 2017 at the Sunshine Coast Lightning in the new Super Netball league, where she developed a reputation as one of the most ruthless wing-attack players in the competition. Geva Kate Mentor CBE (born 17 September 1984) is an England netball international. She has competed in 6 Commonwealth Games: and in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games she was honoured to read, during the Opening Ceremony, The Athletes Oath on behalf of all the competing athletes. She was a member of the England team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Ashleigh Brazill
Ashleigh Brazill (born 29 December 1989 in Campbelltown, New South Wales) is an Australian netball and AFL Women's player, playing both sports concurrently for Collingwood Football Club. She has played for the West Coast Fever and New South Wales Swifts previously in her netball career. Netball career Domestic Brazill made her domestic league debut for the New South Wales Swifts in 2010. She made the move to the West Coast Fever in 2012 and made an immediate impact, winning the club's MVP for the season. Brazill suffered with injuries over the next two seasons which restricted her time on court.
