2023 Polish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections will be held in Poland in late 2023 to elect members of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, Senate, although they can be held sooner if a snap election is called, which last occurred in Polish parliamentary election, 2007, 2007. The previous election, Polish parliamentary election, 2019, in 2019, resulted in the re-election of a majority Law and Justice government, albeit without a majority in the Senate. Electoral system The process of election for the Sejm is through party-list proportional representation via the D'hondt method in multi-seat constituency, constituencies, with a 5% threshold for single parties and 8% threshold for coalitions (with the requirements waived for national minorities). Sejm
The Sejm (English: , Polish: ), officially known as the Sejm of the Republic of Poland (Polish: ''Sejm Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej''), is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of Poland. The Sejm has been the highest governing body of the Third Polish Republic since the transition of government in 1989. Along with the upper house of parliament, the Senate, it forms the national legislature in Poland known as National Assembly ( pl, Zgromadzenie Narodowe). The Sejm is composed of 460 deputies (singular ''deputowany'' or ''poseł'' – "envoy") elected every four years by a universal ballot. Polish Coalition
The Polish Coalition ( pl, Koalicja Polska, KP) is a political alliance in Poland. It is led by the Polish People's Party. It was formed in 2019. In the 2019 parliamentary election, the Polish Coalition placed fourth, winning 30 seats in total. Its 2020 presidential candidate was Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who placed fifth in the first round. The coalition adheres to principles of Christian democracy, conservatism, and agrarianism. It has been described as centrist and centre-right. The Agreement ( pl, Porozumienie), formally known as Jarosław Gowin's Agreement ( pl, Porozumienie Jarosława Gowina), is a centre-right political party in Poland. It was founded in November 2017, led by former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin, as an expansion of Gowin's previous party, Poland Together, before changing its name. Magdalena Joanna Sroka (née Wolter; born 15 July 1979) is a Polish police officer and politician, serving as a member of the Sejm. She is the spokesperson for the Agreement political party. Poland 2050
Szymon Hołownia's Poland 2050 ( pl, Polska 2050 Szymona Hołowni, PL2050) is a centrist political party in Poland. It was founded as a social movement in 2020, shortly after the presidential election. It was officially registered as a political party in April 2021. Since it was founded after the previous parliamentary election, it hasn't participated in any parliamentary elections, although eight MPs have defected to Poland 2050 in the Sejm. The Confederation Liberty and Independence ( pl, Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość), frequently shortened to just Confederation ( pl, Konfederacja), is a far-right political party in Poland. Krzysztof Bosak (, born 13 June 1982) is a far-right Polish politician. He was a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Sejm for the League of Polish Families from 2005 to 2007 and has been a member of the Sejm again since 2019 for the Confederation Freedom and Independence, Confederation. Bosak was the chairman of the All-Polish Youth from 2005 to 2006 and was one of the founders and the current vice-chairman of the National Movement (Poland), National Movement.
