2023 NASCAR Cup Series
The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series is the 75th season for NASCAR professional stock car racing in the United States and the 52nd season for the modern-era Cup Series. The season started with the Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on February 5. That race will be followed by the Daytona Duel qualifying races and the 65th running of the 2023 Daytona 500, Daytona 500 (the first points race of the season) on February 19, both at Daytona International Speedway. The season will end with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway on November 5. This will be the final season for 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, 2014 champion and Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick, who announced his plans to retire at the end of the season on January 12, 2023. 2023 is also the first season since the inception of the NASCAR Cup Series charter system in 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, 2016 that there were no charters that were sold or leased by teams for the season. List Of NASCAR Cup Series Champions
The NASCAR Cup Series Drivers' Championship is awarded by the chairman of NASCAR to the most successful NASCAR Cup Series racing car driver over a season, as determined by a points system based on race results. The Drivers' Championship was first awarded in 1949 to Red Byron. The first driver to win multiple Championships was Herb Thomas in 1951 and 1953. Kevin Michael Harvick (born December 8, 1975) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 4 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. Harvick is the 2014 Cup Series champion, as well as the 2001 and 2006 Xfinity Series champion, and 2007 Daytona 500 winner. Harvick holds the all-time record for Cup Series wins at Phoenix Raceway with nine wins. Richard Lynn Stenhouse Jr. (born October 2, 1987) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro (sixth generation)#ZL1, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for JTG Daugherty Racing. Alex Michael Bowman (born April 25, 1993) is an American professional stock car racing driver. William McComas Byron Jr. (born November 29, 1997) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Hendrick Motorsports. Alan Arthur Gustafson (born August 5, 1975) is an American NASCAR Cup Series crew chief who works for Hendrick Motorsports as the crew chief of their No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driven by Chase Elliott in the NASCAR Cup Series. William Clyde "Chase" Elliott II (born November 28, 1995) is an American professional stock car racing driver. Clifford O. Daniels is an American crew chief currently employed with Hendrick Motorsports. Racing career Cliff Daniels had a short racing career as a driver, racing model cars at short tracks in his home state of Virginia before pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
