The 2023 Indonesia Masters Super 100 I (officially known as the BNI Indonesia Masters I 2023 for sponsorship reasons) was a badminton tournament which took place at GOR PBSI Pancing in Medan, Indonesia, from 5 to 10 September 2023 and had a total purse of $100,000. Tournament The 2023 Indonesia Masters Super 100 I was the twenty-second tournament of the 2023 BWF World Tour and also part of the Indonesia Masters Super 100 championships, which had been held since 2018. This tournament was organized by the Badminton Association of Indonesia and sanctioned by the BWF. Venue This tournament was held at GOR PBSI Pancing in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. BWF Tour Super 100
The BWF World Tour is a Grade 2 badminton tournament series, sanctioned by Badminton World Federation (BWF). It is a competition open to the top world ranked players in singles (men's and women's) and doubles (men's, women's and mixed). The competition was announced on 19 March 2017 and came into effect starting from 2018, replacing the BWF Super Series, which was held from 2007 to 2017. The BWF World Tour are divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, and Super 300 in order (part of the HSBC World Tour). One other category of tournament, the BWF Tour Super 100 level, also offers ranking points. Tommy Sugiarto (born 31 May 1988) is an Indonesian badminton player who is a singles specialist. He was the bronze medalist at the 2014 World Championships. Sugiarto competed at the 2014 Asian Games and 2016 Summer Olympics. Personal life Tommy Sugiarto is the son of the former badminton world champion Icuk Sugiarto. Alex Lanier (born 26 January 2005) is a French badminton player. Career Alex Lanier started playing badminton at the age of 3 and later joined the Dives-sur-Mer badminton club. In 2019, he left the Dives-sur-Mer, to join the club of Strasbourg, to compete in the French interclub division. In 2020, he joined INSEP at the age of only 15. In June 2021, he competed in the Lithuanian International tournament and won his first international title in the final by defeating Canada's player B. R. Sankeerth. Cheam June Wei (born 23 January 1997) is a Malaysian badminton player. He was the mixed doubles gold medalist at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. Career Cheam started playing badminton at aged 8 in Penang. As a junior player, he has been trained by Teh Peng Huat, the former coach of world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei, for more than year before training under task Lim Theam Teow. In 2012, he won the mixed team bronze medal at the Asia Junior Championships in Gimcheon, South Korea. Arnaud-Sylvain-André Merklé (born 25 April 2000) is a French badminton player from Staffelfelden. He was the boys singles European Junior Champion in 2018, and also part of the national junior team that clinched the mixed team title in 2017 and 2018. He participated at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and reached the boys' singles bronze medal match losing to Kodai Naraoka of Japan in the rubber game.
