2023 Formula One World Championship
The 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship is a planned motor racing championship for Formula One cars which will be the 74th running of the Formula One World Championship. It is recognised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the governing body of international motorsport, as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The championship is due to be contested over a record twenty-three , which will be held around the world, and is scheduled to begin in March and end in November. Drivers and teams are scheduled to compete for the titles of World Drivers' Champion and World Constructors' Champion, respectively. Max Verstappen, driving for Red Bull Racing, is due to be the reigning Drivers' Champion, while his team is due to be the reigning Constructors' Champion. Red Bull Powertrains, abbreviated as RBPT, is a Formula One power unit manufacturing company owned by the Austrian Red Bull GmbH. The company was formed in to take over the operation of Formula One power units developed by Honda from onwards, following the Japanese manufacturer's withdrawal from the sport after 2021. However, Honda continued supplying the Red Bull owned teams in 2022 and will do so until the end of 2025. Honda assembles the power units and provide trackside and race operation support. Honda In Formula One
The Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has participated in Formula One, as an engine manufacturer and team owner, for various periods since 1964. Honda's involvement in Formula One began with the season, and in 1965 they achieved their first victory at the Mexican Grand Prix. After further success with John Surtees, Honda withdrew at the end of the 1968 season due to difficulties selling road cars in the United States and Honda driver Jo Schlesser's fatal accident. Honda returned in as an engine manufacturer, which started a very successful period for the company. Since the start of the Formula One season, drivers have to choose an available starting number before entering their first Grand Prix. Drivers carry this number throughout their Formula One career. The FIA have also issued temporary numbers to drivers that are exceptions to this rule, for example if a driver withdraws from a race and a reserve driver takes their place then they receive a team-allocated number, this is also the case of free-practice-only drivers.
