2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be held from 2 to 5 March 2023 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, the first time the event has taken place in this country although the venue did stage the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2012 World Indoor Championships. The four-day competition will be held during the centenary year of the Republic of Turkey, and will feature 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions. More than 600 athletes from the 51 European Athletics Member Federations are expected to compete in Ataköy Arena. Ataköy Athletics Arena
Ataköy Athletics Arena ( tr, Ataköy Atletizm Salonu), is an indoor sporting arena for track and field athletics events located in Ataköy, Istanbul, Turkey. Construction The venue was constructed special for the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships to be held on March 9–11, 2012. It is situated next to the Sinan Erdem Dome, where the training activities are being held. The arena will be the first indoor athletics venue of the country as such. 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held from 4 to 7 March 2021 at the Arena Toruń in Toruń, Poland. This was the second time this event was held in Poland after the 1975 edition in Katowice. The four-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events. Altogether 659 athletes from 46 countries participated in the event which is a record in the competition's history. The Netherlands topped the medal table for the first time with four gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Katarzynka, a gingerbread, was the mascot. 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 38th European Athletics Indoor Championships will be held from 6 to 9 March 2025 at the Omnisport Apeldoorn arena in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The multi-use, multi-sport venue can hold a maximum capacity of 5,000 spectators. It will be the third time that the Netherlands will have staged the continent's top indoor competition after Rotterdam 1973 and The Hague 1989. It will be also the third time in a decade that the country will host a major European Athletics event after the outdoor 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam and 2018 European Cross Country Championships in Tilburg. The European Athletics Indoor Championships is a biennial indoor track and field competition for European athletes that is organised by the European Athletic Association. 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics was the 14th edition of the global-level indoor track and field competition and was held between March 9–11, 2012 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. It was the first of four IAAF World Athletics Series events in 2012, which includes the World Race Walking Cup, the World Junior Championships and the World Half Marathon Championships. Preparation The IAAF announced on March 25, 2007, at an IAAF Council meeting in Mombasa, Kenya that it had received bids from Turkey and Qatar to host the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships. In November 2007 at an IAAF Council meeting in Monaco, Doha was selected to host the 2010 edition, but due to the quality of the Istanbul bid, the Turkish city was chosen to host the following edition of the competition in 2012. Athletics Events
The sport of athletics is defined by the many events which make up its competition programmes. All events within the sport are forms of running, walking, jumping or throwing. These events are divided into the sub-sports of track and field, road running, racewalking and cross country running. The Olympic athletics programme has played a significant role in shaping the most common events in the sport. The World Athletics Championships is the foremost World Championship event, holding the vast majority of World Championship-level events within the competition.
