2023 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 10th European Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held from 11 to 16 April 2023 in Antalya, Turkey. This was the 45th European championships in total for men, and 35th in total for women (including the separate men's and women's championships held in even numbered years). The competition was a qualifying event for the 2023 World Championships. There were 39 nations represented by 319 athletes - 176 men and 143 women. Great Britain topped the medal table with four golds, four silvers and one bronze medal. Antalya Sports Hall
The Antalya Sports Hall is an indoor sporting arena located in Antalya, Turkey. Opened in 2016, the arena has a capacity of 10,000 spectators. It replaced the Dilek Sabancı Spor Salonu as the home of Turkish Basketball League clubs, Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi and Kepez Belediyespor. It is located next to the New Antalya Stadium. Parallel Bars
Parallel bars are floor apparatus consisting of two wooden bars slightly over long and positioned at roughly head height. Parallel bars are used in artistic gymnastics and also for physical therapy and home exercise. Gymnasts may optionally wear grips when performing a routine on the parallel bars, although this is uncommon. Apparatus The apparatus consists of two parallel bars that are held parallel to, and elevated above, the floor by a metal supporting framework. The bars are composed of wood or other material, with an outer coating of wood. The vertical members of the supporting framework are adjustable so the height of the bars above the floor and distance between the bars can be set optimally for each gymnast. Kerem Şener
Kerem Şener (born 2003) is a Turkish male artistic gymnast and part of the national team. He is a member of Şavkar Gymnastics Sport Club in İzmir. Şener won the gold medal in the Parallel bars event in the JU16 division of the 4th Mediterranean Gymnastics Championship held in Athens, Greece on 27-29 September 2019. He became gold medalist with his teammates Bora Tarhan, Tamer Aguş and Hasan Bulut at the 2019 International Junior Team Cup held in Berlin, Germany on 5-6 April. Ahmet Önder
Ahmet Önder (born 11 July 1996) is a Turkish artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2020 Olympic Games. He is the 2019 World silver medalist on the parallel bars. Early life Önder was born in Ödemiş, Turkey in 1996. He was inspired to try gymnastics after watching the 2004 Olympic Games on television. Gymnastics career 2019 Önder competed at various World Cups throughout the year. At the European Championships he placed fifth in the all-around. At the European Games he won silver on horizontal bar behind Robert Tvorogal of Lithuania. In October Önder competed at the World Championships where he won silver on parallel bars behind Joe Fraser. This medal, alongside İbrahim Çolak's gold medal on rings, were the first medals won by Turkish gymnasts at the World Championships. Ferhat Arıcan
Ferhat Arıcan (born 28 July 1993) is a Turkish male artistic gymnast. He represented Turkey at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. At the 2020 Olympic Games he became the first Turkish gymnast to win an Olympic medal, winning bronze on the parallel bars. Personal life Arıcan was born in Konak, İzmir in 1993.
