2023 Asia Pacific Masters Games
The 2023 Asia Pacific Masters Games ( ko, 2023 아시아 태평양 마스터즈 게임, 2023 Asia Taepyeong-yang Maseuteojeu Geim), the second edition of the Asia Pacific Masters Games, also known as Jeonbuk 2023, was held in the South Korean province of North Jeolla from 12 to 20 May 2023. Organised by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), it is the second Masters Games for the Asia-Pacific region. Host city North Jeolla was selected as the host of the inaugural edition of the Asia Pacific Masters Games during a bidding process in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2019. North Jeolla Province
North Jeolla Province (; ''Jeollabuk-do''), also known as Jeonbuk, is a province of South Korea. North Jeolla has a population of 1,869,711 (2015) and has a geographic area of 8,067 km2 (3,115 sq mi) located in the Honam region in the southwest of the Korean Peninsula. North Jeolla borders the provinces of South Jeolla to the south, North Gyeongsang and South Gyeongsang to the east, North Chungcheong to the northeast, and South Chungcheong to the north. Gochang
Gochang County (''Gochang-gun'') is a county in North Jeolla Province, South Korea. It is a rural area, and is home to only one institution of higher education: Gochang Polytechnic College. Notable people from Gochang include the 20th-century poet Midang. The temple of Seonunsa is also located in Gochang. The Gochang Dolmens located in Maesan village are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and Historic Site #391. Gochang-gun has an average temperature of 14.3 degrees Celsius and precipitation of 1003.6 millimeters, which is a low rainfall area. Magpie
Magpies are birds of the Corvidae family. Like other members of their family, they are widely considered to be intelligent creatures. The Eurasian magpie, for instance, is thought to rank among the world's most intelligent creatures, and is one of the few non-mammal species able to recognize itself in a mirror test. A ''hanok'' () is a traditional Korean house. ''Hanok'' were first designed and built in the 14th century during the Joseon dynasty. Korean architecture considers the positioning of the house in relation to its surroundings, with thought given to the land and seasons. The interior of the house is also planned accordingly. This principle is called ''baesanimsu'' (, ), meaning that the ideal house is built with a mountain in the back and a river in the front. ''Hanok'' shapes differ by region. Muju County
Muju County (''Muju-gun''), is a county in North Jeolla Province (Jeollabuk-do), South Korea. Muju is known for its Muju Firefly Festival and is a tourist area. History During the era of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, Mupung (the present name) in Byeonjin belonged to Silla and was called ''Musanhyeon'', and Jugye area (current Muju-eup) in Mahan belonged to Baekje and was called ''Jeokcheonhyeon''.
