2023 ARCA Menards Series West
The 2023 ARCA Menards Series West is the 70th season of the ARCA Menards Series West, a regional stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. The season began on March 10 at Phoenix Raceway with the General Tire 150 and will end with the Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 100, also at Phoenix Raceway, on November 3. Jake Drew entered the season as the defending champion. He did not return to the West Series full-time in 2023 and defend his title after the team that he drove for in 2022, Sunrise Ford Racing, closed down after the end of the season and he was unable to find a full-time ride with another team at the start of the 2023 season. The ARCA Menards Series West, formerly the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, NASCAR AutoZone West Series, NASCAR Winston West Series and NASCAR Camping World West Series, is a regional stock car racing series owned and operated by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). The series was first formed in 1954 as a proving ground for drivers from the western United States who could not travel to race in the more traditional stock car racing regions like North Carolina and the rest of the southern United States. In 1954, the series was formed under the name Pacific Coast Late Model circuit, with nine races on the schedule. At first the series sanctioned races on dirt tracks and paved tracks, but as the series developed, more races were held on paved tracks, with the final race on a dirt track being held in 1979 until the series returned to dirt in 2018. Chris Lowden (born March 22, 1965) is an American professional stock car racing driver and owner of Las Vegas country music venue Stoney's Rockin' Country. He last competed full-time in the ARCA Menards Series West in 2022, driving the No. 11 Chevrolet SS for his team, Lowden Motorsports. Takuma Koga (born April 16, 1977) is a Japanese professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 7 Toyota Camry for Jerry Pitts Racing as well as part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 13 Toyota Supra for MBM Motorsports. Racing career Koga began competing in NASCAR in 2001 in the NASCAR Northwest Series, where he attempted six races, qualifying for five and failing to qualify for one. William "Billy" Venturini (born April 7, 1976) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He currently co-owns Venturini Motorsports, a racing team that competes in the ARCA Menards Series, along with his father, Bill. As a driver, he competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series East, driving the No. 25 Toyota Camry for Venturini Motorsports. David Smith (born March 28, 1950) is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 05 Toyota for Shockwave Motorsports, and part-time in both the ARCA Menards Series driving for the same team. Ethan Nascimento (born June 9, 2007) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 04/21 Toyota for Nascimento Motorsports, and part-time in both the ARCA Menards Series driving for the same team.
