2022–23 West Ham United F.C. Season
The 2022–23 season was the 128th season in the existence of West Ham United F.C., West Ham United and the club's 11th consecutive season in the top-flight of English football. In addition to the 2022–23 Premier League, domestic league, they also participated in this season's editions of the 2022–23 FA Cup, FA Cup, the 2022–23 EFL Cup, EFL Cup, and the 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League, UEFA Europa Conference League. The season was the first since 2003–04 West Ham United F.C. season, 2003–04 without Mark Noble, who retired following the 2021–22 West Ham United F.C. season, 2021–22 campaign. Vice-captain Declan Rice replaced Noble as Captain (association football), club captain. Noble returned to West Ham as sporting director on 2 January 2023. On 18 May 2023, West Ham became the first English team to advance to the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final, Conference League final, where they defeated Italian club ACF Fiorentina, Fiorentina 2–1 on 7 June. West Ham United F
West or Occident is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from east and is the direction in which the Sun sets on the Earth. Etymology The word "west" is a Germanic word passed into some Romance languages (''ouest'' in French, ''oest'' in Catalan, ''ovest'' in Italian, ''oeste'' in Spanish and Portuguese). As in other languages, the word formation stems from the fact that west is the direction of the setting sun in the evening: 'west' derives from the Indo-European root ''*wes'' reduced from ''*wes-pero'' 'evening, night', cognate with Ancient Greek ἕσπερος hesperos 'evening; evening star; western' and Latin vesper 'evening; west'. Examples of the same formation in other languages include Latin occidens 'west' from occidō 'to go down, to set' and Hebrew מַעֲרָב maarav 'west' from עֶרֶב erev 'evening'.
