2022–23 Texas Longhorns Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Texas Longhorns men's basketball team represented the University of Texas at Austin in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by interim head coach Rodney Terry and played their home games at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas as members of the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns played at the newly-built Moody Center after playing at Frank Erwin Center for 45 years. They finished the season 23–8, 12–6 in Big 12 play to finish in second place. As the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament, they defeated Oklahoma State, TCU, and top-seeded Kansas to win the tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, where they defeated Colgate, Penn State, and Xavier to reach the Elite Eight, their first appearance since 2008. Chris Beard (basketball)
Christopher Michael Beard (born February 18, 1973) is an American basketball coach who was most recently the head coach at the University of Texas at Austin for the men's team. He previously coached at Texas Tech, Little Rock, Angelo State, and McMurry. Beard graduated from high school from McCullough High School in The Woodlands, Texas. He was a manager at Texas under former Longhorns coach Tom Penders, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. He received a Masters of Education from Abilene Christian University where he served as a graduate assistant in 1998. Under Beard's watch, the Texas Tech Red Raiders made the deepest NCAA Tournament runs in school history. The 2008 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball as a culmination of the 2007–08 basketball season. Timmy Allen
Timmy Allen (born January 9, 2000) is an American college basketball player for the Texas Longhorns of the Big 12 Conference. He previously played for the Utah Utes. High school career Allen grew up playing baseball, football and basketball. He played his first two years of varsity basketball for Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Arizona. As a sophomore, he averaged 21.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. For his junior season, Allen transferred to Red Mountain High School in Mesa, because the school was closer to where his mother was receiving cancer treatment. He sat out his first nine games due to Arizona Interscholastic Association transfer rules. As a senior, Allen averaged 29.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Tre Mitchell (born September 24, 2000) is an American basketball player. He played college basketball for the UMass Minutemen, Texas Longhorns, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Kentucky Wildcats. High school career In his first two years of high school, Mitchell played for Elizabeth Forward High School in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, before transferring to Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, Connecticut. The Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team represents Texas Tech University in basketball.
