2022–23 Stanford Cardinal Women's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Stanford Cardinal women's basketball team will represent Stanford University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Cardinal will be led by thirty-seventh year head coach Tara VanDerveer, and they will play their home games at Maples Pavilion as members of the Pac-12 Conference. The win over Sacred Heart marks the end of losing streak to Mid Major New England teams. when the streak begin back in 1998 when they lost to Harvard to become the only number 1 seed to be upset. and in 1999 when they lost to Maine in the first round. Tara VanDerveer
Tara Ann VanDerveer (born June 26, 1953) is an American basketball coach who has been the head women's basketball coach at Stanford University since 1985. Designated the Setsuko Ishiyama Director of Women's Basketball, VanDerveer led the Stanford Cardinal to three NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championships: in 1990, 1992 and 2021. She stepped away from the Stanford program for a year to serve as the U.S. national team head coach at the 1996 Olympic Games. VanDerveer is the 1990 Naismith National Coach of the Year and a ten-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year. She is also one of only nine NCAA Women's Basketball coaches to win over 900 games, and one of ten NCAA Division I coaches – men's or women's – to win 1,000 games. Francesca Belibi (born July 20, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 Conference. She drew national attention in high school for her dunking ability. In 2020, she became the eighth woman to dunk in a women's college basketball game. In 2021, she won the NCAA championship with Stanford. Lisa Leslie Award
The Lisa Leslie Award is an award presented annually to the best women's basketball center in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I competition. It is named after Hall of Famer Lisa Leslie, an eight-time All Star and two-time champion of the WNBA in her 12 years career with the LA Sparks. In 2002, Leslie became the first player to dunk in a WNBA game, en route to a second championship for the Sparks. Cameron Brink
Cameron Lee Brink (born December 31, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 Conference. Brink attended Mountainside High School and Southridge High School, both in Beaverton, Oregon, where she earned McDonald's All-American honors and was ranked the number three player in her class by ESPN. As a freshman at Stanford, she helped her team win the national championship. In her sophomore season, she was named Pac-12 Co-Player of the Year and led her team to the Final Four. Haley Jones (born May 23, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Dream of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played her American collegiate basketball for the Stanford Cardinal women's basketball, Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 Conference. Cheryl Miller Award
The Cheryl Miller Award is an award presented annually to the best women's basketball small forward in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I competition. It is named after Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller. While at Riverside (CA) Polytechnic High School, Miller set a single game scoring record of 105 points in a game in 1982. She was a four-time All-America, a three-time Naismith Player of the Year and a Wade Trophy winner while accumulating 3,018 career points at USC from 1982 to 1986. Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever are an American professional basketball team based in Indianapolis, playing in the Eastern Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded before the 2000 season began. The team is owned by Herb Simon, who also owns the Fever's NBA counterpart, the Indiana Pacers, and Simon Malls. The Fever has qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in 13 of its 21 seasons in Indiana. Lauren Marie Betts (born October 15, 2003) is an American college basketball player for the UCLA Bruins of the Pac-12 Conference. She played for Grandview High School in Aurora, Colorado, where she was ranked as the number one recruit in her class by ESPN. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball team is the intercollegiate women's basketball program representing University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
