2022–23 Southampton F.C. Season
The 2022–23 season was the 106th season in the existence of Southampton Football Club and the club's eleventh consecutive season in the Premier League. In addition to the league, they also competed in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Ralph Hasenhüttl was sacked on 7 November 2022 due to a poor start to the season, which saw Southampton dragged into the relegation zone. He was replaced with the former Luton Town and Stoke City manager Nathan Jones. However, after winning just once in his 14 games in charge, Jones was sacked as the team dropped to the bottom of the league. Rubén Sellés took charge until the end of the season, however, despite wins over Chelsea and fellow strugglers Leicester City, he was unable to keep Southampton in the Premier League. Mateusz Lis (born 27 February 1997) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for TFF First League club Göztepe, on loan from club Southampton. Career Lis started his career with Lech Poznań. In July 2015, he joined Miedź Legnica on a season-long loan. In July 2016, Lis joined Podbeskidzie on loan for the season. After returning from his loan moves, Lis struggled to get into the Lech Poznań side, and departed on loan again in January 2017, this time to Raków Częstochowa. Gavin Okeroghene Bazunu (born 20 February 2002) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for EFL Championship club Southampton and the Republic of Ireland national team. Bazunu started his career at Shamrock Rovers, making his first team debut in June 2018 at the age of 16, before joining Manchester City in February 2019.
