2022–23 Nevada Wolf Pack Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team represented the University of Nevada, Reno during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolf Pack were led by fourth-year head coach Steve Alford and played their home games for the 40th season at the Lawlor Events Center in Reno, Nevada. They participated as members of the Mountain West Conference for the 11th season. They finished the season 22–9, 12–6 in Mountain West play to finish in fourth place. They were defeated by San Jose State in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 11 seed, where they lost in the first four play-in round to Arizona State. Steve Alford
Stephen Todd Alford (born November 23, 1964) is an American men's college basketball coach and former professional player who is the head coach for the Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference (MWC). Born and raised in Indiana, he was a two-time consensus first-team All-American playing in college for the Indiana Hoosiers. He led them to a national championship in 1987. After playing professionally for four years in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he has been a college head coach for almost 30 years. Alford was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in high school before playing at Indiana University Bloomington under coach Bobby Knight. He helped the Hoosiers claim their fifth national championship, and finished his career as Indiana's all-time leading scorer. Alford was selected in the second round of the 1987 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks, and played four years in the league with Dallas and the Golden State Warriors. Grant Sherfield
Grant Sherfield (born October 29, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for Hapoel Be'er Sheva of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners, Wichita State Shockers and Nevada Wolf Pack. High school career Sherfield attended North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, Texas. As a junior, he averaged 24.1 points, 4.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game, earning District 4-6A co-MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.
