2022–23 Naisten Liiga Season
The 2022–23 Naisten Liiga season was the fortieth season of the , the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the in 1982. The regular season began on 10 September 2022 and concluded on 19 February 2023. HIFK Helsinki and KalPa Kuopio both finished the regular season at the top of the league, tied with 93 points in 36 games. HIFK were granted the regular season championship title by virtue of a higher goal difference, marking the first regular season victory in team history. Kiekko-Espoo, the reigning regular season champions from the previous four seasons (2018–19 to 2021–22), finished in third place. Finnish Ice Hockey Association
The Finnish Ice Hockey Association ( fi, Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto, sv, Finlands Ishockeyförbund) is the governing body of ice hockey in Finland. In 1927, the Finnish Skating Association introduced ice hockey as part of its program and, through that organization, Finland joined the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 1928. The Finnish Ice Hockey Association was formed on 20 January 1929 and featured seventeen clubs. Marjo Hannele Voutilainen (born 22 March 1981) is a Finnish retired ice hockey player and current head coach of Ilves Naiset in the Naisten Liiga (ice hockey), Naisten Liiga (NSML). During her playing career, she competed internationally with the Finland women's national ice hockey team, Finnish national team, winning a bronze medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and at the IIHF World Women's Championships in 2008 IIHF Women's World Championship, 2008 and 2009 IIHF Women's World Championship, 2009. Tampereen Ilves Naiset (lit. 'Tampere Lynx Women') are an ice hockey team in the Naisten Liiga, the premier women's ice hockey league in Finland. They are the representative women's team of the multi-sport club Ilves, based in Tampere, Pirkanmaa, and their home arena is the Tesoman jäähalli in Tampere's Tesoma district. They are the only team to have iced a team every season since the establishment of the Naisten SM-sarja in 1982 (renamed Naisten Liiga in 2017). The European Women's Hockey League, abbreviated EWHL, is an international ice hockey league. Created as the Elite Women's Hockey League in 2004 by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the EWHL comprises clubs from several countries in Central Europe and one team from Kazakhstan, and is played in parallel to national championships. 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I
The 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I comprised two international ice hockey tournaments of the 2022 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The Group A tournament was played in Angers, France, from 24 to 30 April and the Group B tournament in Katowice, Poland, from 8 to 14 April 2022.
