2022–23 MPBL Season
The 2022–23 MPBL season, known as the MPBL Mumbaki Season, is the fourth season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. The MPBL secured the sponsorship of betting firm, OKBet for this season. Format The format for this season is: * Just like the last season, all teams will play in a single round-robin regardless of division. Each team will have 21 games in their schedule. * At the end of the group stage, if there are games which were postponed during the regular season, the game/s shall be played especially if there will be significant effects in the standings after these games are played. * If there are ties in the standings, these will be broken via the following criterion: 1. Head-to-head matchup, 2. Point difference against each other 3. Record vs. the other division, and if necessary, the quotient system. The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. The MPBL was intended to feature both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor. Marikina Shoe City
Marikina Shoemasters are a Filipino professional basketball team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) based in Marikina. It is one of 11 active teams based in Metro Manila, as well as one of four based in the Eastern Manila District. The team plays their home games at Marikina Sports Center. Caloocan Excellence
The Caloocan Batang Kankaloo, also shortened as the Batang Kankaloo, are a Filipino professional basketball team based in Caloocan. The team primarily competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as one of 11 active teams based in Metro Manila. Caloocan is also one of two teams based in the Northern Manila District, also known as Camanava, the other team being Valenzuela XUR Homes Realty Inc., playing their home games at Caloocan Sports Complex. Tanduay Rum Masters
The Batangas City Embassy Chill is a professional basketball team currently competing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and the Filbasket. The team traces its roots to the original Tanduay Rhum Masters that played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) from 1975 to 1987 and again from 1999 to 2001. Batangas City, just as the original Tanduay team, is owned and affiliated with Tanduay Distillers. 2021 MPBL Invitational
The 2021 MPBL Invitational, officially known as the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Invitational powered by TM for sponsorship reasons, was an invitational tournament that serves as the prelude to the 2022–23 MPBL season. It commenced on December 11, 2021 and ended on December 23, 2021. The tournament was also the first for the MPBL since it was granted professional status by the Games and Amusements Board. The Invitational was also the first professional sports event in the Philippines to allow live audiences since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, with the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, the venue for the tournament, only allowed to be at 50 percent capacity. Mindoro Tamaraws
The Oriental Mindoro Disiplinados (formerly Mindoro Tamaraws) are a professional basketball team competing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). They also played as the Mindoro Tamaraws Disiplinados in the National Basketball League. History The Mindoro Tamaraws, backed by 7A Sports and with Justin Tan as the team owner joined the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League making its debut in the 2019–20 season. In April 2020, actress and Pola, Oriental Mindoro mayor Ina Alegre became co-owner of the team. The Tamaraws were also recognized as the representative team of Oriental Mindoro in the MPBL, and a basketball court in Calapan was built to serve as the team's homecourt.
