The 2022–23 Ligue 1, also known as Ligue 1 Uber Eats for sponsorship reasons, is the 85th season of the Ligue 1, France's premier football competition. It began on 5 August 2022 and will conclude on 4 June 2023. As the 2022 FIFA World Cup began on 20 November, the last round before the break was held on 12–13 November. The league subsequently resumed on 27 December. Four clubs are to be relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season as the number of clubs will be reduced to 18 starting from the 2023–24 season. As a result, no play-offs will be held at the end of the season. This is the last season played with 20 teams. Paris Saint-Germain F.C., Paris Saint-Germain are the defending champions. The 2021–22 Ligue 1 season, also known as Ligue 1 Uber Eats for sponsorship reasons, was a French association football tournament within Ligue 1. It was the 84th season since its establishment. It began on 6 August 2021 and concluded on 21 May 2022. The league fixtures were announced on 25 June 2021. Lille were the defending champions. On 23 April, Paris Saint-Germain won a record-equalling tenth title with four matches to spare following a 1–1 draw against Lens. The 2022–23 Ligue 2, commonly known as 2022–23 Ligue 2 BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the 84th season of Ligue 2. It began on 30 July 2022 and will conclude on 3 June 2023. The league will have a break from 12 November to 27 December due to the FIFA World Cup. Two clubs will be promoted to Ligue 1 at the end of the season as the number of clubs in Ligue 1 will be reduced from 20 to 18. As a result, no play-offs will be held at the end of the season.
