2022–23 King Cup
The 2022–23 King Cup, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 48th edition of the King Cup since its establishment in 1957. The tournament began on 20 December 2022 and concluded with the final on 12 May 2023. For the third year in a row, the tournament was limited to the 16 teams participating in the 2022–23 Saudi Professional League. This will be the first edition of the King Cup in which Al-Ahli, the most successful team in the competition, will not participate. Al-Fayha are the defending champions after winning their first title last season. They were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Al-Ittihad. Al-Hilal defeated Al-Wehda on penalties in the final following a 1–1 draw after extra time to win their 10th title. King Cup
The King Cup (sometimes spelled King's), officially known as The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' Cup ( ar, كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين), is the Saudi Arabian football knockout cup competition, run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. The cup was created in 1957 and was played until 1990. It was re-launched again in 2007 as ''King's Cup of Champions'', and was played by only the top 6 finishers of the Professional League plus the Crown Prince Cup and Federation Cup winners. Since 2014, it was renamed as ''King's Cup'', the competition returned to its roots by implementing the old format. 153 clubs have taken part in the tournament. Al Fateh Sports Club ( ar, نادي الفتح الرياضي) is a Saudi Arabian multi-sports club based in Al-Mubarraz, Al-Ahsa. It is mainly known for its professional football club. The club derives its nickname, "Al-Namothaji" (T''he Paragon''), from the fact that almost all of the club's sports play in the national top flights. Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Abha, Saudi Arabia. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches. Anselmo de Moraes (born 20 February 1989), or simply Anselmo, is a Brazilian defensive midfielder who currently plays for Al-Wehda. Fayçal Fajr
Fayçal Fajr (; born 1 August 1988) is a professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Saudi Pro League club Al Wehda. Born in France, he plays for the Morocco national team. Career Early career Fajr was born in the city of Rouen and began his career with local amateur club Sottevillais Cheminots. In 2000, he joined the youth academy of professional club Le Havre. Adam Maher (born 20 July 1993) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for Saudi Professional League club Damac FC as a midfielder. Club career Maher made his professional debut for AZ on 15 December 2010 in a 2010–11 UEFA Europa League game against FC BATE Borisov and scored a goal on his debut. He was the youngest player playing for a Dutch football club ever to score a goal in the Europa League and UEFA Cup. Al Taawoun Football Club ( ar, التعاون, lit=Cooperation) is a professional multi-sports club based in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. The football team competes in the Saudi Professional League, the top tier of Saudi Football. Al-Shabab Football Club ( ar, نادي الشباب), or The Youth Football Club, in English, is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Riyadh. It was founded in 1947, and was at first named ''Shabab Al Riyadh''. (), meaning Riyadhi Youth, but in 1967 was renamed ''Al Shabab''. History Al Shabab was the First football club in Riyadh. The club began before 1947, with many conflicts before with its numerous members, but it was settled in 1947 and Abdulrahman Bin Saeed was the president.
