2022–23 Kategoria Superiore
The 2022–23 Kategoria Superiore was the 84th official season, or 85th season of top-tier football in Albania (including three unofficial championships during World War II) and the 23rd season under the name Kategoria Superiore. The season began on 19 August 2022 and ended on 29 May 2023. Partizani won the league title on 29 May 2022, on the last matchday. The winners of this season's Kategoria Superiore earned a place in the first qualifying round of the 2023–24 Champions League, with the second and third placed clubs earning a place in the first qualifying round of the 2023–24 Europa Conference League. Teams Two clubs have earned promotion from the Kategoria e Parë, Bylis (promoted after a one-year absence) and Erzeni (promoted after a nineteen-year absence). Kategoria Superiore
The Kategoria Superiore, officially known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons, is a professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Albanian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs, and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 36 matches each (playing each team in the league four times, twice at home and twice away). The competition was founded in 1930 as the Albanian National Championship during the reign of King Zog, shortly after the creation of the Albanian Football Association. Krujë
Krujë ( sq-definite, Kruja; see also the etymology section) is a town and a municipality in north central Albania. Located between Mount Krujë and the Ishëm River, the city is only 20 km north from the capital of Albania, Tirana. Krujë was inhabited by the ancient Illyrian tribe of the Albani. In 1190 Krujë became the capital of the first Albanian state in the middle ages, the Principality of Arbër. Later it was the capital of the Kingdom of Albania, while in the early 15th century Krujë was conquered by the Ottoman Empire, but then recaptured in 1443 by Skanderbeg, leader of the League of Lezhë, who successfully defended it against three Ottoman sieges until his death in 1468. Niko Dovana Stadium
The Niko Dovana Stadium, officially Stadiumi "Niko Dovana", is a multi-use stadium located in Durrës, Albania. It is the home ground of Teuta. The capacity is 12,040, making it the fifth largest ground in the country. It was renamed in 1991 in honour of former Teuta goalkeeper and financier Niko Dovana. Shijak ( sq-definite, Shijaku) is a town and a municipality in Durrës County, west-central Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Gjepalaj, Maminas, Shijak and Xhafzotaj, that became municipal units. Adush Muça Stadium ( sq, Stadiumi Adush Muça) is a multi-use stadium in Ballsh, Albania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Bylis.
