2022–23 Irani Cup
The 2022–23 Irani Cup, also known as Mastercard Irani Trophy due to sponsorship reasons, is the 59th edition of the Irani Cup, a first-class cricket competition in India. It is scheduled to be played as a one-off match between Madhya Pradesh, the winners of the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, and a Rest of India cricket team, from 1 to 5 March 2023. In March 2020, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that all domestic cricket in India was suspended due to coronavirus, including the 2019–20 Irani Cup. However the cancelled match was played as an opening match of this season from 1 to 5 October, with the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy winners Saurashtra playing against a Rest of India team. Saurashtra Cricket Team
Saurashtra cricket team is one of the three first-class cricket teams based in Gujarat (the others being Baroda and Gujarat) that compete in the first-class tournament Ranji Trophy and limited-overs Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Competition history Previous teams from Saurashtra were Nawanagar and Western India. Nawanagar won the Ranji Trophy in 1936–37 and were runners up in 1937–38. Western India won the Ranji Trophy in 1943–44. Saurashtra began competing in the 1950-51 Ranji Trophy. They were runners-up in the Ranji Trophy to Mumbai in 2012–13 and 2015–16 and in 2018–19 against Vidarbha. They finally won the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 2019–20 when they beat Bengal on first-innings lead in the final at Rajkot. Rest Of India Cricket Team
Rest of India cricket team is a first-class cricket team in India that continually changes, being composed from players across the country ''except'' for those from the season's current Ranji Trophy winner. It annually competes against the Ranji Trophy winner for the Irani Cup, "The Best vs Best of the Rest" tournament. The team was officially instituted in season 1959–60, playing its first match on 18 March 1960 against the Bombay cricket team (now Mumbai). Rest of India has won the tournament 27 times and shared the trophy twice (with Bombay in 1965-66 and Delhi in 1979–80). Madhya Pradesh Cricket Team
The Madhya Pradesh cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It competes in the Ranji Trophy. History Holkar cricket team A Central India team competed in the Ranji Trophy between 1934–35 and 1939–40, playing 12 matches. In 1941, Holkar entered the competition, organised and managed by King Yashwantrao Holkar II belonging to the Holkar dynasty of the Marathas. In the fourteen years of its existence Holkar, which included such players as C. K. Nayudu and Mushtaq Ali, won the title four times and finished second on six other occasions. 2019–20 Irani Cup
The 2019–20 Irani Cup was the 58th edition of the Irani Cup, a first-class cricket competition in India, at the end of the domestic season. It was scheduled to be played as a one-off match between Saurashtra, the winners of the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy, and a Rest of India cricket team, from 18 to 22 March 2020. Vidarbha had won the previous tournament. On 13 March 2020, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the match would take place behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The following day, the BCCI confirmed that all domestic cricket in India was suspended due to coronavirus, including the Irani Cup. 2021–22 Ranji Trophy
The 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, is scheduled to be the 87th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament in India. The tournament will be split into two phases, with the league stage being played from 17 February to 15 March 2022, and the knockout phase played from 30 May to 26 June 2022. Due to the delayed start of the tournament because of the COVID-19 pandemic, teams were split into eight Elite groups, instead of five as per previous editions, and the Plate Group. The 2019–20 Ranji Trophy was the 86th season of the Ranji Trophy, the premier first-class cricket tournament in India. It took place between December 2019 and March 2020. Chandigarh competed in the Ranji Trophy for the first time. Vidarbha were the defending champions.
