2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier
The 2022–23 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier is a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament being played as part of qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, starting from November 2022. The first stage of the qualification pathway in the Africa region consisted of two sub-regional qualifiers, with the top two teams from each event progressing to the regional final. The sub-regional tournaments were played from 17 November to 9 December 2022, hosted by the Rwanda Cricket Association. The regional finals will be played in Namibia in 2023. The top two sides in the regional final events will qualify for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Kenya were the clear favourites going into Qualifier A, while Mali and Saint Helena played their first T20I matches at the event. Twenty20 International
A Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of cricket, played between two of the international members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which each team faces a maximum of twenty overs. The matches have top-class status and are the highest T20 standard. The game is played under the rules of Twenty20 cricket. Starting from the format's inception in 2005, T20I status only applied to Full Members and some Associate Member teams. However, in April 2018, the ICC announced that it would grant T20I status to all its 105 members from 1 January 2019. The shortened format was initially introduced to bolster crowds for the domestic game, and was not intended to be played internationally, but the first Twenty20 International took place on 17 February 2005 when Australia defeated New Zealand, and the first tournament was played two years later, with the introduction of the ICC T20 World Cup. Mid West Rhinos
The Mid West Rhinos is one of the four cricket Zimbabwean cricket franchises. They are a first-class cricket team, based in Midlands Province and the Mashonaland West area. They play their home matches at Kwekwe Sports Club in Kwekwe. History In 2009, Zimbabwe Cricket announced a major restructure of domestic cricket in Zimbabwe and the traditional provincial sides were replaced with regional franchises. Midlands was renamed Mid West Rhinos and based in the mining town of Kwekwe. With the new franchise system in place the season got under way on 14 September 2009. Current captain Vusimuzi Sibanda was the first person to score a hundred under the new 'Mid West Rhinos' name as they convincingly beat the newly titled Matabeleland Tuskers by 135 runs.
