2022 World Para Swimming Championships
The 2022 World Para Swimming Championships was the 11th edition of the World Para Swimming Championships, an international swimming competition for athletes with a disability. It was held in Madeira from 12 to 18 June. The competition was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, however, it was moved to the summer of 2022 due to the postponement of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo from 2020 to 2021. The event featured 488 athletes from 59 countries. Participating nations Russia and Belarus were banned from attending all international competitions due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Rogier Dorsman
Rogier Dorsman (born 28 July 1999) is a Dutch Paralympic swimmer. He represented the Netherlands at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Niranjan Mukundan (born 4 September 1994) is an Indian para-swimmer. He was crowned as the Junior World Champion in the year 2015. Early years Niranjan was born in Bangalore with spina bifida; he has an incomplete development of the spinal cord and clubbed feet. With the support of his parents, he started learning swimming and progressed very quickly. Niranjan attended the Jain University in Bangalore for higher education. Career Early career Niranjan claimed the silver medal twice in 50m butterfly at the Paralympic nationals in Mumbai, 2004–2005 and Kolkata, 2005–2006. Rudy Garcia-Tolson
Rudy Garcia-Tolson (born September 14, 1988) is a Paralympic swimmer, runner and triathlete from the USA. He was born with popliteal pterygium syndrome, resulting in a club foot, webbed fingers on both hands, a cleft lip and palate and the inability to straighten his legs. As a 5 year old wheelchair user, after 15 operations, he decided he would rather be a double amputee and walk with prosthetics. He had both legs removed above the knee. Swimming Garcia-Tolson started swimming at age 6. Within a year, the seven-year old was competing against children without disabilities and breaking records. Facundo José Arregui (born 15 September 1997) is an Argentine Paralympic swimmer who competes at international swimming competitions. He specialises in freestyle swimming and open water swimming. He is a Parapan American Games champion and a World silver medalist in freestyle swimming.
