2022 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship
The 2022 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship was the 122nd staging of the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board in 1897. The draw for the group stage placing took place on 31 January 2022. The championship ran from 28 July to 11 September 2022. Ballygunner entered the championship as the defending champions. The final was played on 11 September 2022 at Walsh Park in Waterford, between Ballygunner and Mount Sion, in what was their 14th meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in the final in 8 years. Ballygunner won the match by 2–11 to 0–08 to claim their 21st championship title overall and a record-equalling ninth title in succession. Tallow's Tomás Ryan was the championship's top scorer with 2-47. 2014 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship
The 2014 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship was the 114th staging of the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board in 1887. The championship began on 25 April 2014 and ended on 5 October 2014. Passage are the defending champions, however, they were defeated in the quarter-final stages. Ballygunner won the title following a 2–16 to 0–9 defeat of Mount Sion in the final, having remained undefeated during the whole championship campaign. Ardmore were relegated having lost all their group games and the relegation play-off. Lismore GAA
Lismore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and one adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. The club has won county titles in both Hurling and football, but in recent history the club has been mainly concerned with the game of hurling. The club's Camogie teams have also enjoyed much success. Roanmore GAA (Irish Language, Irish: ) is a GAA club in Waterford City, Republic of Ireland. Formed in 1970, the club made rapid progress, achieving Senior Hurling status in 1980. The club's greatest achievement was winning back to back Waterford Senior Hurling Championships in 1989 and 1990. The club has provided many players to the Waterford GAA, Waterford Senior Hurling Panel over the years, most notably, Noel Crowley and Kieran Delahunty. Fraher Field
Fraher Field ( ga, Páirc Uí Fhearachair) is a GAA stadium, located in Dungarvan, County Waterford, owned by the Waterford GAA County Board. It has a total capacity of around 15,000. History Dan Fraher (1852–1929), an Irish language activist and scholar and promoter of Gaelic games, leased the land in 1885 and bought it outright in 1912. The stadium was renamed in his honour in 1995. With the obvious exception of Croke Park, Fraher Field has been the venue for more all-Ireland senior hurling finals than any other venue, having hosted the 1903, 1905, 1907 and 1911 deciders. Various improvements have been made to the stadium since 1995, including the addition of a new stand on one side of the pitch, and the improvement of standing facilities in general. Abbeyside GAA
Abbeyside () is a townland in Dungarvan in County Waterford, Ireland. It lies on the east bank of the Colligan River. History MacGrath's Castle was a notable landmark in Abbeyside, overlooking Dungarvan Harbour, until it collapsed in January 1916. It was situated at Friar's Walk in Abbeyside, near the Augustinian abbey. It was a six-storey tower house, reputedly built by the MacGrath family, and labelled MacCragh's Castle in the Civil Survey of 1654. While, as of the mid-18th century, it was still in a "good state of preservation", by the mid-20th century only fragments of the walls remained. Ballysaggart GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ballysaggart, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in hurling each year, which includes 2 adult hurling teams in the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship and the Western Junior Hurling “C” Championship, and had briefly returned to participating in Gaelic football entering a team in the West Waterford Junior Football Championship in 2015, after a lapse of ten years.
