2022 Washington Mystics Season
The 2022 Washington Mystics season is the franchise's 25th season in the Women's National Basketball Association. The regular season will tip off versus the Indiana Fever on May 6, 2022. The Mystics won the Draft Lottery and received the 1st Overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, despite only having the third best odds to win. This is the first time in franchise history that the Mystics had the #1 Overall pick. The team traded the pick to Atlanta and moved down to the third overall pick in the Draft. The Mystics started the season on a three game winning streak, before losing their first game. The continued on to win four of their next six games and finished the month of May 7–3. Their fortunes turned a little in June, with the team not being able to put together a streak of wins and they finished the month 6–6. WNBA Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association is made up of six teams. From the league's second season in 1998 through 2015, the WNBA operated separate playoff brackets for its Eastern and Western Conferences. Each conference's playoff was divided into two playoff rounds, the Conference Semi-Finals and the Conference Finals, with the Conference Finals winners receiving Conference Championships and advancing to the WNBA Finals to determine the WNBA champion. In the final years of this playoff scheme, all in-conference playoff series were best-of-three. Since 2016, the league has abandoned separate conference playoffs in favor of a single league-wide playoff bracket. Megan Gustafson
Megan Gustafson (born December 13, 1996) is an American basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Gustafson was drafted in the second round (17th overall) by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA draft, but was released before the start of the season. On June 10, 2019, she was signed again by the team that had previously cut her. Gustafson completed her college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2019. As a senior, she scored 1000 points that year and won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female basketball player. On March 15, 2019, ESPN named Gustafson the national player of the year. Kennedy Valentine Burke (born February 14, 1997) is an American professional basketball player. She was drafted by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA draft, and has played for the Indiana Fever, Seattle Storm, and the Washington Mystics in the WNBA. Burke completed her college career with the UCLA Bruins of the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019. Erica McCall (born August 21, 1995) is an American professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. She played college basketball at Stanford University and completed her high school education at Ridgeview High School in Bakersfield, California. Early life Erica was born on August 21, 1995 to Gregory and Sonya McCall. The Los Angeles Sparks (LA Sparks) are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. The Atlanta Dream are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta, playing in the Eastern Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Stephanie Mavunga is an American and Polish professional basketball player who is currently a free agent. She was drafted by Indiana in the second round and 14th overall pick of the 2018 draft, becoming the first Zimbabwean-born player to be drafted by the WNBA. She switched her international allegiance to Poland in 2022. College career Mavunga began her college career at North Carolina. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (born May 18, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Israeli team Maccabi Bnot Ashdod, and the Washington Mystics of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 WNBA draft. She is one of Western Pennsylvania's most decorated women's athletes in the region's history. Tianna Bartoletta née Madison (born August 30, 1985) is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the long jump and short sprinting events. She is a two-time Olympian with three gold medals. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she placed fourth in the 100m race then won her first gold by leading off the world record-setting 4 × 100 m relay team.
