2022 US Open (tennis)
The 2022 US Open was the 142nd edition of tennis' US Open and the fourth and final tennis major (Grand Slam event) of the year. It was held on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. Daniil Medvedev and Emma Raducanu were the men's and women's singles defending tournament champions. Raducanu lost to Alizé Cornet in the first round, while Medvedev lost to Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round. Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Świątek won the men's and women's singles titles, respectively. They became the first players, both born in the 2000s, to win the tournament's singles titles. Grand Slam (tennis)
The Grand Slam in tennis is the achievement of winning all four major championships in one discipline in a calendar year, also referred to as the "Calendar-year Grand Slam" or "Calendar Slam". In doubles, a team may accomplish the Grand Slam playing together or a player may achieve it with different partners. Winning all four major championships consecutively but not within the same calendar year is referred to as a "non-calendar-year Grand Slam", while winning the four majors at any point during the course of a career is known as a "Career Grand Slam". On the ITF Junior Circuit, Shnaider has a career-high combined ranking of No. 3, achieved on 13 December 2021. She won the girls' doubles titles at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, partnering Belarusian Kristina Dmitruk, and the 2022 Australian Open, partnering American Clervie Ngounoue. Aniek Van Koot
Aniek van Koot (born 15 August 1990) is a Dutch wheelchair tennis player who is a former world No. 1 in both singles and doubles. Van Koot is a 23-time Grand Slam champion, having won the 2013 Australian Open, 2013 US Open and 2019 Wimbledon Championships in wheelchair singles. She has also won 17 major titles in doubles, variously partnering Florence Gravellier, Daniela di Toro, Jiske Griffioen and Diede de Groot. In doubles, Peifer has completed the career Super Slam, having won all four majors, a Paralympic gold medal in 2016, and the Wheelchair Tennis Masters over the course of his career.
