2022 USL Championship Playoffs
The 2022 USL Championship Playoffs (branded as the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Hisense for sponsorship reasons) is the post-season championship of the 2022 USL Championship. It is the twelfth edition of the USL Championship Playoffs. The playoffs began October 22, and concluded with the USL Championship Final on November 13. San Antonio FC won the regular season. Defending title holders Orange County SC did not qualify for the playoffs. Format The top seven teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs. With the top team from each conference entering the competition during the conference semi-finals. After the opening round the tourament will be reseeded to ensure that the top team from each conference plays the lowest seeded team and hosting rights will be determined by regular season record. San Antonio FC is a professional soccer club based in San Antonio, Texas. It competes in the USL Championship, the second-highest level of the United States soccer league system, as a member of the Western Conference. Orange County Soccer Club is an American soccer team based in the Orange County, California city of Irvine. Founded in 2010 as the Los Angeles Blues, the team currently plays in the second tier USL Championship. The team plays its home games at Championship Soccer Stadium, located inside Great Park in Irvine. Detroit City FC (DCFC) is an American professional soccer club based in Detroit, Michigan, that competes in the USL Championship. The club played in the National Premier Soccer League from 2012 to 2019 and the National Independent Soccer Association in 2020 and 2021. Al Lang Stadium
Al Lang Stadium is a 7,500-seat sports stadium along the waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, United States which was used almost exclusively as a baseball park for over 60 years. Since 2011, it has been the home pitch of the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USL Championship soccer league. Al Lang Stadium was built in 1947 at the site of an older facility known as St. Petersburg Athletic Park. It is named in honor of Al Lang, a former mayor of St. Petersburg who was instrumental in bringing minor league and spring training baseball to the city in the early 20th century. Joaquín Antonio Rivas Navarro (born 26 April 1992) is a Salvadoran professional footballer who plays for USL Championship club Miami FC and the El Salvador national team. Club career Early career Rivas played college soccer at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 2010 to 2013. After college, Rivas appeared for USL PDL side Kitsap Pumas in 2014. Nicky Law (footballer, Born 1988)
Nicholas Alexander Law (born 29 March 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Tampa Bay Rowdies in the USL Championship. He is the son of football manager and former player Nicky Law, Sr. Law began his career with Sheffield United, however he failed to make a significant breakthrough into the first team and had loan spells with Yeovil Town and twice at Bradford City. In 2009, he was given a free transfer joining Rotherham United and later moved to Scotland to join Scottish Premier League side Motherwell. Sebastián Ignacio Guenzatti Varela (born July 8, 1991) is a Uruguayan footballer who plays for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship. Youth career Guenzatti was born in Uruguay before moving to the United States at 12, where he grew up in the College Point section of Queens in New York City, and graduated from Francis Lewis High School in Fresh Meadows, where he started for the soccer team all four years. New Mexico United is an American professional soccer team based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 2018, the team currently plays in the USL Championship, the second division of American soccer. Sacramento Republic FC is an American professional soccer team based in Sacramento, California, that plays in the Western Conference of the USL Championship, the second level in US soccer. Rio Grande Valley FC, also known as RGVFC or Rio Grande Valley FC Toros, is an American semi-professional soccer team based in Edinburg, Texas operated by Lone Star, LLC. They joined the USL Championship in the 2016 season. The team served as a hybrid affiliate of the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer.
