2022 Tallinn Open
The 2022 Tallinn Open event was a professional women's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts at the Forus Tennis Centre and held between 26 September and 2 October 2022. It was the first tournament in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA)'s history to be held in Tallinn, Tallinn, Estonia and was organized as a WTA 250 tournaments, WTA 250 event on the 2022 WTA Tour. The event was held for the first time, however, it was one of the six tournaments that were given single-year WTA 250 licenses in September and October 2022 due to the cancellation of tournaments in China during the 2022 season because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the suspension of tournaments in China following former WTA player Peng Shuai's allegation of sexual assault against a Chinese government official. WTA 250 Tournaments
WTA 250 tournaments is a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association tour, implemented since the reorganization of the schedule in 2021. Earlier these events were classified as WTA International tournaments, WTA International Tournaments. As of 2021, WTA 250 tournaments include events with prize money of approximately $250,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are 280. This compares to 2,000 points for winning a Grand Slam (tennis), Grand Slam tournament ("major"), up to 1,500 points for winning the WTA Finals, 1000 points for winning a WTA 1000 tournament, and 470 for winning a WTA 500 tournament. This system differs slightly from that used for the men's ATP Tour, which has ATP Tour 250 events with 250 points for the winner (similar to WTA 250 tournaments), and two higher tiers of ATP tournaments offer 1000 and 500 points for winning, respectively. Beatriz Haddad Maia (born 30 May 1996) is a Brazilian professional tennis player. On 22 August 2022, she reached a career-high in the WTA rankings in singles at No. 15. Haddad Maia has won two singles and four doubles titles on the WTA Tour, one singles and doubles title each on the WTA Challenger Tour, as well as 17 singles and nine doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Viktória Kužmová (; born 11 May 1998) is a Slovak professional tennis player. She has been ranked as high as No. 43 in singles and No. 27 in doubles in the world by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Katie Boulter (born 1 August 1996) is a British tennis player. Boulter, from Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, has won six singles titles and four doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit.
