Aslan Karatsev defeated Andy Murray in the final, 6–3, 6–3 to win the men's singles title at the 2022 Sydney Tennis Classic. This was Murray's first ATP final since he won the 2019 European Open. Aslan Kazbekovich Karatsev (russian: Аслан Казбекович Карацев, os, Хъарацаты Хъазыбеджы фырт Аслан; born 4 September 1993) is a Russian-Israeli professional tennis player. He reached a career-high singles ATP ranking of world No. 14 on 7 February 2022, and peaked at No. 76 in the doubles rankings on 16 May 2022. In February 2021, Karatsev went through qualifiers for the Australian Open. In his first main draw of a major, ranked 114th, he defeated 8th seed Diego Schwartzman, 20th seed Félix Auger-Aliassime and 18th seed Grigor Dimitrov to reach the semifinals. Hugo Gaston
Hugo Gaston (; born 26 September 2000) is a French tennis player. His career high ATP ranking in singles is world No. 58, which he achieved on 11 July 2022, and in doubles is world No. 220, which he achieved on 16 May 2022. He won the 2018 Australian Open – Boys' doubles title with compatriot Clément Tabur. Junior career In December 2017, Gaston won the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship.
