2022 Supercopa Uruguaya
The 2022 Supercopa Uruguaya was the fifth edition of the Supercopa Uruguaya, Uruguay's association football, football super cup. It was held on 30 January 2022 between the 2021 Uruguayan Primera División season, 2021 Primera División champions Peñarol and the 2021 Uruguayan Primera División season#Torneo Apertura, 2021 Torneo Apertura champions Club Plaza Colonia de Deportes, Plaza Colonia. Originally the match was scheduled to be played at Estadio Silvestre Octavio Landoni in Durazno, however, the Durazno Intendancy declined to host it due to an increase of COVID-19 cases in the Durazno Department. On 21 January 2022, the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) announced that the match was moved to Estadio Domingo Burgueño in Maldonado, Uruguay, Maldonado. Peñarol defeated Plaza Colonia by a 1–0 score after extra time to win their second Supercopa Uruguaya title. Club Plaza Colonia De Deportes
Club Plaza Colonia de Deportes, or simply Plaza Colonia, is a Uruguayan professional football (soccer), football club from Colonia del Sacramento, that competes in the Uruguayan Primera División, Uruguayan Primera Division. Founded in 1917, the club plays its home games at the 3,000 seater Estadio Juan Gaspar Prandi. History The club was founded on April 22, 1917 by Alberto Suppici. They played in the Regional league of Colonia until 1999. They gained their affiliation with Uruguayan Football Association, AUF in 2000. In 2001 they won promotion to the Primera División Uruguaya and in their debut season they finished in 7th place. In 2003 the club finally fell to the Segunda División Uruguay, Second Division after a poor campaign. Nicolás Ecequiel Dibble Aristimuño (born 27 May 1994) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Vitória. Álvaro Fernández (; born 11 October 1985) is a Uruguayan footballer. He currently plays as a midfielder for Plaza Colonia. Career Club Fernández began his career with Atenas de San Carlos. The 2018 Supercopa Uruguaya was the first edition of the Supercopa Uruguaya, Uruguay's football super cup. It was held on 26 January 2018 between 2017 Torneo Intermedio winners Nacional and 2017 Primera División champions Peñarol. It was originally scheduled to be played on 28 January, however, and due to Nacional's first match in the 2018 Copa Libertadores being scheduled on 31 January, the Supercopa was moved to 26 January.
