On June 24, 2022, the first round of local body elections were held in 14 districts of Sindh. According to the results, the Pakistan People's Party has won 225 seats in the municipal committee. GDA has won 18 seats while 19 independents have won, PTI has won 14 and JUI has won 7 seats while other parties have won two seats. Second phase Held on 15 January 2023. Districts Of Sindh
There are thirty districts in the Pakistan provinces of Pakistan, province of Sindh. These districts together contain 119 tehsils, 1100 Union Councils and 66,923 human settlements, as per the 1998 census. Each district has a headquarter, often referred to as a capital of the district. Karachi, the capital of Sindh, is the most populous city district, as well as the most densely populated. Pakistan People's Party
The Pakistan People's Party ( ur, , ; PPP) is a centre-left, social-democratic political party in Pakistan. It is currently the third largest party in the National Assembly and second largest in the Senate of Pakistan. The party was founded in 1967 in Lahore, when a number of prominent left-wing politicians in the country joined hands against the military dictatorship of President Ayub Khan, under the leadership of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Affiliated with Socialist International, the PPP's platform has formerly been socialist, and its stated priorities continue to include transforming Pakistan into a social-democratic state, promoting secular and egalitarian values, establishing social justice, and maintaining a strong military. Local Government In Pakistan
Pakistan is a federal republic with three tiers of government: national, provincial and local. Local government is protected by the constitution in Articles 32 and 140-A, and each province also has its own local-government-enabling legislation and ministries responsible for implementation. District councils and metropolitan corporations are respectively the highest rural and urban tiers of local government in the provinces. Both urban and rural local government have two or three tiers in all provinces except Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where councils are not identified as either urban or rural. There are 129 district councils across the four provinces, 619 urban councils made up of one city district, four metropolitan corporations, 13 municipal corporations, 96 municipal committees, 148 town councils, 360 urban union committees, and 1,925 rural councils. An election is a formal group decision-making process by which a population chooses an individual or multiple individuals to hold public office.
