Departments Of Senegal
The 14 regions of Senegal are subdivided into 46 departments and 103 arrondissements (neither of which have administrative function) and by ''collectivités locales'' (the 14 ''régions'', 110 ''communes'', and 320 ''communautés rurales'') which elect administrative officers. Since three new regions increased the number of departments to 45 in 2008, the most recent addition, of Keur Massar, in May 2008 brings the number to 46. Pape Diop
Pape Diop (born 17 April 1954.) is a Senegalese politician and a leading member of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) who was President of the Senate of Senegal from 2007 to 2012. He was Mayor of Dakar, the capital city, from 2002 to 2009, as well as President of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007. Diop was born in Dakar. He joined the PDS in 1974 and was Treasurer-General of the PDS from 1992 to 1997. He was elected to the National Assembly as a PDS candidate from Dakar Department in the May 1993 parliamentary election and was re-elected in the May 1998 parliamentary election and the April 2001 parliamentary election. Africanews is a French multilingual news network, formerly headquartered in Pointe-Noire, Republic of the Congo. Budget concerns caused by the coronavirus forced the channel to permanently shift operations to a small newsroom at the headquarters of sister channel Euronews in Lyon, France. The news channel began broadcasting online, and via TV and satellite on 20 April 2016. The newsroom has 30 journalists and around 55 technical staffers.
