2022 Republika Srpska General Election
General elections were held in Republika Srpska on 2 October 2022 as part of the Bosnian general elections. Voters decided the President of Republika Srpska and the 83 members of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. Incumbent president Željka Cvijanović was eligible to run for a second four-year term, but opted not to do so, instead deciding to run for Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Instead of Cvijanović, former president and incumbent Serb member of the Bosnian Presidency Milorad Dodik decided to run for president once again. Milorad Dodik
Milorad Dodik ( sr-cyrl, Милорад Додик, ; born 12 March 1959) is a Bosnian Serb politician serving as the 8th president of Republika Srpska since November 2022. Previously, he served as the 7th Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the collective federal head of state, from 2018 to 2022. Dodik has also been serving as the president of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) since its creation in 1996, and has occupied a number of political positions in Republika Srpska, the Serb-majority entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Dodik was the prime minister of Republika Srpska from 1998 to 2001 and from 2006 to 2010, and the president of Republika Srpska from 2010 until 2018. General elections were held in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 2 October 2022. They decided the makeup of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Presidency as well as national, entity, and cantonal governments. The elections for the House of Representatives were divided into two; one for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one for Republika Srpska. In the presidential election, voters in the Federation elected Bosniak Denis Bećirović and re-elected Croat Željko Komšić, while voters in Republika Srpska elected Serb Željka Cvijanović.
