2022 Players Championship Finals
The 2022 Cazoo Players Championship Finals was the fifteenth edition of the PDC darts tournament, which saw the top 64 players from the 2022 PDC Players Championship series take part. The tournament took place from 25–27 November 2022 at the Butlin's Resort, Minehead. Peter Wright was the defending champion, after defeating Ryan Searle 11–10 in the 2021 final. However, he did not defend his title after withdrawing for family reasons. Michael van Gerwen won the tournament for a seventh time, defeating Rob Cross 11–6 in the final, hitting the tournament's only nine-dart finish and a 170 checkout in the final. In a slight change to the usual format, and to avoid a direct clash with England’s 2022 FIFA World Cup group match with the USA which took place on the evening of the opening night of the competition, all matches in the first round were played during the day in a single bumper session. Prize money The 2022 Players Championship Finals prize fund remained at £500 ...

Butlin's Minehead
Butlins Resort Minehead is a holiday camp operated by Butlins, located in Minehead in Somerset, England. It opened in 1962 and remains in use today. It was known as Butlin's Minehead until 1987, and as Somerwest World from then until 1999, when it reopened as Butlins Minehead Resort. History In the winter of 1961, Billy Butlin began work on creating a holiday camp in Minehead. The site was selected because of its flatness, good rail links, and proximity to the town and sea. The site was not without its problems, however, including flooding. In order to solve this, a trench was excavated around the site and an earth wall constructed. The trench later became the site's boating pond. The site opened to the public on 26 May 1962, the construction having cost £2 million. Over the next decade several attractions were added: the miniature railway in 1964, the chairlifts in 1965, and the monorail in 1967. Full size locomotives, Duchess of Hamilton and Knowle, were added in 196 ...

High Dart Average
The three-dart average in darts is the average score achieved with three darts thrown. Averages are the most cited statistics in matches as they give a rough estimate of a player's form. The longer a match lasts, the harder it is to maintain a high average as low scoring legs or missed darts at a double bring the average down. While there have been match averages of over 130 in floor tournaments, the world record only lists televised matches, which are easy to verify. History Michael van Gerwen is the current world record holder for a televised match with an average of 123.40 thrown in the 2016 Premier League against Michael Smith. Peter Wright holds the record for highest Professional Darts Corporation live streamed match average (123.53), at Players Championship 29 in 2019. Bobby George was the first player to throw an average of over 100 on television during the 1979 News of the World Darts Championship final against Alan Glazier Alan James Glazier (21 January 1939 – ...

The team is controlled by the United States Soccer Federation and is a member of FIFA and CONCACAF. The U.S. team has appeared in eleven FIFA World Cups, including the first in 1930, where they reached the semi-finals to finish third, the best result ever by a team from outside UEFA and CONMEBOL. They returned in 1934 and 1950, defeating England 1–0 in the latter, but did not qualify again until 1990. As host in 1994, the U.S. received an automatic berth and lost to Brazil in the round of sixteen. They qualified for the next five World Cups (seven consecutive appearances (1990– 2014), a feat shared with only seven other nations), becoming one of the tournament's regular competitors and often advancing to the knockout stage. The U.S. reached the quarter-finals in 2002, and controversially lost to Germany. In the 2009 Confederations Cup, the Ame ...

Nine-dart Finish
A nine-dart finish, also known as a nine-darter, is a perfect leg or single game in the sport of darts. The object of the game is to score a set number of points, most commonly 501; in order to win, a player must reach the target total exactly and hit a double scoring area with their last dart. When the target is 501, the minimum number of darts needed to reach it is nine. For example, one way to achieve a nine-dart finish is to score 60 (triple 20) on each of the first seven throws, then a 57 (triple 19) on the eighth, and lastly a 24 (double 12) on the ninth. It is regarded as an extremely difficult feat to achieve even for the sport's top players, and is considered the highest single-game achievement in the sport, similar to a maximum 147 break in snooker or a 300-point game in bowling. The feat was first achieved on television by John Lowe in 1984, and has since been via this medium a total 64 times. Paul Lim was the first to hit a nine-darter in the World Championship, mak ...

Minehead
Minehead is a coastal town and civil parish in Somerset, England. It lies on the south bank of the Bristol Channel, north-west of the county town of Taunton, from the boundary with the county of Devon and in proximity of the Exmoor National Park. The parish of Minehead has a population of approximately 11,981, making it the most populous town in the western part of the Somerset West and Taunton local government district, which in turn, is the worst area in the country for social mobility. This figure includes Alcombe and Woodcombe, suburban villages which have been subsumed into Minehead. There is evidence of human occupation in the area since the Bronze and Iron Ages. Before the Norman conquest, it was held by Ælfgar, Earl of Mercia and after it by William de Moyon and his descendants, who administered the area from Dunster Castle, which was later sold to Sir George Luttrell and his family. There was a small port at Minehead by 1380, which grew into a major trading centre d ...
