2022 Philippine Presidential Debates
Numerous organizations have held debates for the 2022 Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will organize five debates, three of which are for the presidential candidates, and the other two for the vice presidential candidates. Candidates, though not required to participate in debates, are expected to attend as it presents them with massive exposure not counted on the limits of the airtime that they are allowed to advertise on broadcast networks. The first COMELEC-organized presidential debate was held on March 19, 2022, while the vice presidential debate was held the following day. Alongside the debates organized by COMELEC, other media organizations held debates for the two positions. A presidential debate, organized by Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), took place on February 15 and was attended by four candidates. 2022 Philippine Presidential Election
The 2022 Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections were held on May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 general election. This was the 17th direct presidential election and 16th vice presidential election in the Philippines since 1935, and the sixth sextennial presidential and vice presidential election since 1992. Incumbent president Rodrigo Duterte was ineligible for re-election because the president is limited to a single term under the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Incumbent vice president Leni Robredo was eligible for re-election but chose to run for the presidency instead. Therefore, this election determined the 17th president and the 15th vice president. The president and vice president are elected separately, so the two winning candidates can come from different political parties. Mandaluyong
Mandaluyong, officially the City of Mandaluyong ( fil, Lungsod ng Mandaluyong), is a first class highly urbanized city in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 425,758 people. Cecilia Victoria Oreña-Drilon (; born July 8, 1961), simply known as Ces Drilon, is a Filipino broadcast journalist. She presented news and public affairs programs for the News and Current Affairs division of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation from 1989 to 2020. Luisita "Luchi" Cruz-Valdes (born December 27, 1965) is a Filipino broadcast journalist formerly affiliated with GMA News and Public Affairs and ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs. She is currently the chief of News5, the news and public affairs department of TV5. Life and career Cruz-Valdes earned her degree in broadcast communication at the University of the Philippines Diliman (UP), and became a radio and television reporter and producer.
