2022 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Season
The 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 64th season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. The season began in August 2022 and concluded in November. It culminated with the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, with the Men's College Cup held at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. Syracuse won the NCAA Championship by defeating Indiana 7-6 on penalty kicks following a 2-2-draw. Changes from 2021 Rule changes In April 2022, during a meeting among the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel (PROP), several major rule changes were enacted. 2022 Clemson Tigers Men's Soccer Team
The 2022 Clemson Tigers men's soccer team represented Clemson University during the 2022 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. They were led by head coach Mike Noonan, in his thirteenth season. They played their home games at Riggs Field. This was the team's 62nd season playing organized men's college soccer and their 35th playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Tigers finished the season 13–7–1 overall and 3–4–1 in ACC play to finish in fourth place in the Atlantic Division. As the eighth overall seed in the ACC Tournament, they defeated Notre Dame in the First Round, top seed Duke in the Quarterfinals, fourth seed Wake Forest in the Semifinals and became the lowest seed to reach the final in ACC Tournament history. Dave Brandt
David Brandt is an American soccer coach who is currently the head coach of the Bucknell Bison. Playing career Brandt played college soccer for Messiah College between 1981 and 1984. Coaching career Collegiate Brandt coached his alma mater Messiah College from 1997 to 2008. During that time, the team compiled a 246-25-14 record for a .888 win percentage. The team won six NCAA Division III National Championships. His win percentage and 52 postseason wins are both Division III records. In 2005, his team compiled a 24-0-0 record, becoming one of only five teams to have an undefeated season at any level of the NCAA since 1976. Bucknell Bison Men's Soccer
The Bucknell Bison men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. They are an NCAA Division I team and member of the Patriot League. Through its history, Bucknell has played in the Middle Atlantic Conference (1947–73), East Coast Conference (1974–89) and Patriot League (1990-pres.). Bucknell has won all four of its Patriot League titles since 2006 and in doing so has been one of the most successful Patriot League teams in that time. Chase Wileman
Chase Wileman (born June 25, 1986) is an American soccer coach and former player. He is currently the coach of Brown Bears men's soccer, Brown men's soccer. Career College Wileman attended Southern Methodist University, where he majored in Markets & Culture, and featured in over 60 games for the Mustangs during his college career, captaining the side in his senior year. Professional Wileman was selected in the 4th round, 45th overall, in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft by FC Dallas, and made his full professional debut for them on 1 July 2008, in a US Open Cup third-round game against Miami FC (2006), Miami FC. The penalty area or 18-yard box (also known less formally as the penalty box or simply box) is an area of an association football pitch. It is rectangular and extends 16.5m (18 yd) to each side of the goal and 16.5m (18 yd) in front of it. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Golden Goal
The golden goal or golden point is a rule used in association football, lacrosse, field hockey, and ice hockey to decide the winner of a match (typically a knock-out match) in which scores are equal at the end of normal time. It is a type of sudden death. Under this rule, the game ends when a goal or point is scored; the team that scores that goal or point during extra time is the winner. Introduced formally in 1993, though with some history before that, the rule ceased to apply to most FIFA-authorized football games in 2004. The similar silver goal supplemented the golden goal between 2002 and 2004. The golden goal used to be played in NCAA matches up to 2021 but is still used in FIH sanctioned field hockey games.
