2022 Melbourne Storm Season
The 2022 Melbourne Storm season was the 25th in the club's history, competing in the 2022 NRL season. The team was coached by Craig Bellamy, coaching the club for his 20th consecutive season and for the second straight season, Melbourne had co-captains with Jesse Bromwich (second season), and Christian Welch (first season) sharing the duties, following the departure of Dale Finucane. Melbourne qualified for the 2022 NRL finals series in fifth place, but were defeated by the Canberra Raiders 28–20 at AAMI Park to be eliminated in week one of the finals. 2022 NRL Season
The 2022 NRL season is the 115th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 25th season run by the National Rugby League. Teams The lineup of teams remained unchanged for the 16th consecutive year. This became the second longest stretch of time (after 1947-1966 - 20 seasons) of a continuous line-up of teams in competition history (overtaking 1967-1981 - 15 seasons). Pre-season Pre-season matches were played between 12 February and 28 February 2022, before a 10-day lead up until the beginning of the regular season. It featured nineteen matches across three weekends, including the 2022 All Stars match, which was won by the Māori All Stars 16 – 10, and the annual Charity Shield match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and St George Illawarra Dragons, which the Dragons won 16–10. William Warbrick
William Warbrick (born 6 March 1998) is a New Zealand professional rugby league footballer who plays for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League (NRL). Early life Warbrick was born and raised in Kawerau, New Zealand , of Maori descent. He was educated at Rotorua Boys' High School and excelled in athletics, Rugby Union and League. Warbrick played junior rugby league for Ngongotaha Chiefs in the Bay of Plenty Rugby League. Cooper Johns (born 14 July 1999) is a professional rugby league footballer who currently plays as a and for the Manly Sea Eagles in the National Rugby League (NRL). Background He is the son of former Newcastle Knights player Matthew Johns, nephew of Andrew Johns and younger brother of current Newcastle Knights player Jack Johns. Cooper was educated at St Augustine's College, Sydney and represented the NSW CIS team. Jayden Nikorima (born 5 October 1996) is a New Zealand rugby league footballer who plays as a for the Catalans Dragons in the Betfred Super League. Eureka Stadium, known commercially as Mars Stadium, is an oval shaped sports stadium located in the Eureka Sports Precinct of Wendouree, north of the CBD of the city of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. History The first permanent oval used by the North Ballarat Football Club was established in 1963 in the centre of the Ballarat Showgrounds show-ring and Harness Racing track that was used by the Ballarat Trotting Club as its main venue between 1952 and 1966. Newcastle Knights
The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. George Jennings
George Jennings (10 November 1810 – 17 April 1882) was an English sanitary engineer and plumber who invented the first public flush toilets. Josiah George Jennings was born on 10 November 1810 in Eling, at the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire. He was the eldest of seven children of Jonas Joseph Jennings and Mary Dimmock. He was educated at the local school run by his uncle-in-law Joshua Withers. At 14, after his father's death he was apprenticed to his grandfather's glass and lead merchandising business, before moving to his uncle John Jennings's plumbing business at Southwick, Southampton. Casey Fields is a $30 million, 70 hectare multi-sports complex in the City of Casey at Cranbourne East a southeastern suburb of Melbourne. The complex is home to Australian rules football, cricket, netball, soccer, tennis, cycling, golf, and rugby football. A prominent arena within the complex is the VFL Oval, an Australian rules football oval which serves as the home of the Casey Demons in the Victorian Football League.
