The 2022 Liga de Elite is the 50th season of the Liga de Elite, the top Macanese league for association football clubs since its establishment in 1973. The season began on 14 January 2022 without Polícia, in which they withdrew from the league to focus on the COVID-19 pandemic in Macau. Liga De Elite
Liga de Elite (), previously known as Campeonato da 1ª Divisão do Futebol, is the top division of the Macau Football Association, created in 1973. The league is featuring local players and professional foreign players. Due to the lack of football fields in Macau, most matches are played at the Estádio Campo Desportivo. As with Hong Kong, the league is separate from the mainland Chinese football league system. The league is generally played between January and July of each calendar year. History In the inaugural 2014 edition, Lam Pak, Lam Ieng and Kuan Tai all forfeited from the First Division before the start of the competition. Lam Pak and Lam Ieng withdrew due to the lack of backing from sponsors and Kuan Tai cited budget issues and could no longer afford to pay some of its players. 2022 AFC Cup
The 2022 AFC Cup was the 19th edition of the AFC Cup, Asia's secondary club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This season was the last in an all-year-round (spring-to-autumn) schedule; from 2023 the competition was switched to an autumn-to-spring schedule. Bahraini club Al-Muharraq were the title holders, having won their second AFC Cup title in 2021. As they failed to obtain the AFC license, they did not defend their title. Al-Seeb of Oman won its first continental title. They automatically qualified for the 2023–24 AFC Champions League and entered the qualifying play-offs, since Omani teams were unable to qualify through their domestic performance. Sporting Clube de Macau () is a Macanese professional football club that competes in the Liga de Elite. It was founded in 1926 as the former branch of Sporting Clube de Portugal. History Beginnings The Macau Sporting Club was founded on 22 September 1926 as the No.25 branch of Sporting Clube de Portugal. It began under the direction of Henrique Nolasco da Silva (President), Francisco Borralho (secretary), Angelo Rosary (treasurer), and alternates Dr. Horacio Carvalho, Pedro Pereira Leite, and Mário Ribeiro. Ka I () are a Macanese football club which currently competes in the Liga de Elite. History Founded in Taipa in 1985 under the name Associacão Desportiva Ka I, the club has seven titles to its name: three Liga de Elite titles and four Taça de Macau. They have been one of the best clubs in Macau since their debut in Liga de Elite in 2009. Led by Japanese midfielder Dan Ito, the club made their debut in Liga de Elite in 2009 season, where they managed to finish in second place in the standings, just behind Lam Pak, while winning their first trophy, Taça de Macau. Clube Desportivo da Casa de Portugal em Macau is a football club based in Macau. The club most currently competed in the 2ª Divisão de Macau. History Founded in 2001 under the name Casa de Portugal em Macau in behalf of the defense and promotion of Portuguese language and culture to all interested parties. Chao Pak Kei Football Team, simply known as C.P.K. (), are a Macau, Macanese professional football (soccer), football club which currently competes in the Liga de Elite. History Chao Pak Kei Football Team was established in 2008 by Stephen Chow, Inacio Hui and Kenneth Kwok. In 2009, C.P.K. played the Junior Division (the current 4th Division), finished at the second position and was promoted to the 3rd Division. In 2010, C.P.K. got the third position at 3rd Division and was promoted to the 2nd Division. After finished at 4th in 2011, C.P.K won the title of the 2nd Division in 2012 and was promoted to the 1st Division, also known as the Liga de Elite.
