2022 Kehoe Cup And Shield
The 2022 Kehoe Cup was an inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, played by four county teams. It was the second level of Leinster hurling pre-season competitions, below the 2022 Walsh Cup. It took place on 16–30 January 2022. There was also the Kehoe Shield, historically a secondary tournament for teams eliminated in the early stages of the Kehoe Cup, but this year (as in 2019) a separate third-ranked competition for county teams. won the Cup, and won the Shield. Format Each team plays the other teams in the competition once, earning 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw. The first-placed team wins the tournament. Joe Fortune
Joseph Fortune (born 1979) is an Irish hurling manager and former player, who is the current manager of the Westmeath senior hurling team. He is a former player with various club sides in Wexford and Dublin. Playing career Fortune's club career began at juvenile and underage levels with the Rapparees club in Enniscorthy. He later transferred to rival club Shamrocks before spending over a decade lining out with the Naomh Mearnóg club in Dublin. Management career Fortune's first move into team management and coaching came with a number of Dublin underage development squads in 2003 and 2004. He eventually became manager of the Dublin minor hurling team and guided them to Leinster Minor Championship success in 2007. Fortune subsequently took charge of the Dublin Institute of Technology team in the Fitzgibbon Cup before winning a Leinster Under-21 Championship title with the Dublin under-21 team in 2016. 2019 Kehoe Cup
The 2019 Kehoe Cup was an inter-county hurling competition based mainly in the province of Leinster in which Antrim from Ulster also took part. The Kehoe Cup is ranked below the Walsh Cup (tier 1). Five county teams competed – , , , and . It took place in December 2018 and January 2019. Westmeath were the winners. The Kehoe Shield was revived in 2019. The 2022 Walsh Cup was the early-season tier 1 inter-county hurling competition based in the Irish province of Leinster. Seven counties compete – five from Leinster, Galway from Connacht and Antrim from Ulster. Tom Mullally
Tom Mullally is a hurling coach who has been manager of Carlow since January 2021. He is from the village of Glenmore in County Kilkenny and is a brother of Richie and Paddy Mullally. He coached Kilkenny GAA club Clara to the 2013 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, the club's first for nearly three decades. He brought Mount Leinster Rangers to the 2013 Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship and the final of the 2013–14 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship, in the last of which Portumna defeated his team. GAA County Teams
A county is a geographic region within Gaelic games, controlled by a county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and originally based on the 32 counties of Ireland as they were in 1884. While the administrative geography of Ireland has since changed, with several new counties created and the six that make up Northern Ireland superseded by 11 local government districts, the counties in Gaelic games have remained largely unchanged.
