2022 Grand Prix Hassan II
The 2022 Grand Prix Hassan II was a professional tennis tournament played in Marrakesh, Morocco on clay courts. It was the 36th edition of the tournament and was classified as an ATP Tour 250 event on the 2022 ATP Tour. It took place from 4 April to 10 April 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the event twice consecutively from its original schedule of 6 to 12 April 2020. Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. Damir Džumhur ( ; born 20 May 1992) is a professional tennis player from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is currently Bosnia and Herzegovina's No. 1 player. His career-best singles ranking of World No. 23 achieved on 2 July 2018, makes him the highest-ranked player ever competing for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mirza Bašić (; born 12 July 1991) is a Bosnian professional tennis player. He has won one ATP singles title and is a member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Davis Cup team.
