2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification – CAF Third Round
The third round of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification (CAF), CAF matches for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification was played from 25 to 29 March 2022. The ten group winners from the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – CAF Second Round, second round were drawn into five ties. The five overall winners of these fixtures qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Qualified teams Draw and seeding The draw for the third round was held on 22 January 2022 in Douala, Cameroon, starting at 16:00 (UTC+1). The seedings were based on the November 2021 FIFA World Rankings (shown in parentheses). Teams from Pot 2 hosted the first leg, while teams from Pot 1 hosted the second leg. 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CAF)
The African section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar, for national teams which are members of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). A total of five slots in the final tournament were available for CAF teams. Format A previous proposal to merge the qualification rounds for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with those for the World Cup was turned down after a CAF meeting on 11 June 2018. CAF reverted to the format used for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification competition. *First round: 28 teams (ranked 27–54) played home-and-away over two legs. Kalidou Koulibaly (born 20 June 1991) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Chelsea and the Senegal national team. Jean-Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (born 23 March 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Bayern Munich. Born in Germany, he plays for the Cameroon national team. Japoma Stadium
The Japoma Stadium is a 50,000-capacity all-seater multi-purpose stadium in Douala, Cameroon. It is part of a sports complex that also consists of an indoor arena for basketball, handball, futsal and volleyball, tennis courts and an 8-lane Olympic-size swimming pool, as well as conference and commercial centres, a hotel and a parking lot. The stadium also has an athletic track. The Japoma Stadium costed around $232 million, with 85% of the project financed by Turkish Türk Eximbank.
