The 2022 Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 was the 19th Stock car racing, stock car race of the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the seventh iteration of the Explore the Pocono Mountains 225, event. The race was held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Long Pond, Pennsylvania at Pocono Raceway, a permanent triangular-shaped racetrack. The race took the scheduled 90 laps to complete. Noah Gragson, driving for JR Motorsports, held off Ty Gibbs in an outstanding battle with 22 laps to go, and earned his eighth career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his third of the season. Gragson would also dominate most of the race, leading 43 laps. To fill out the podium, Josh Berry, driving for JR Motorsports, would finish 3rd, respectively. The Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 is a NASCAR Xfinity Series Stock car racing, stock car race held at Pocono Raceway. History The inaugural Xfinity Series race at Pocono was held on June 4, 2016 with a scheduled distance of 100 laps/. However, the race was shortened after only 53 laps/ because of persistent rain showers. The race marked the first time NASCAR's second-tier series visited and raced in the state of Pennsylvania since the closure of Nazareth Speedway in 2004. The second running of the event was the first NASCAR-sanctioned event at Pocono to use the stage format, a format that was created prior to the 2017 NASCAR season for all three divisions for all race tracks; the 100 laps were split into three stages, with the first two being 25 laps each and the last consisting of the final 50. Motor Racing Network (MRN) is a U.S. radio network that syndicates broadcasts of auto racing events, particularly NASCAR. Richard Lynn Stenhouse Jr. (born October 2, 1987) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro (sixth generation)#ZL1, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for JTG Daugherty Racing.
