The 2022 Columbus Crew season was the club's twenty-seventh season of existence and their twenty-seventh consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of American soccer. The season covered the period from November 8, 2021 to the end of the 2022 season. It was the fourth and final season under head coach Caleb Porter. The Columbus Crew, formerly known as Columbus Crew SC, is an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio. The Crew competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference and began play in 1996 as one of the 10 charter clubs of the league. The team is currently operated by an ownership group led by the Haslam family (also owners of the Cleveland Browns and Pilot Corporation) and former team physician Pete Edwards. The Haslam/Edwards group is the third ownership group in club history. The franchise was founded in 1994. Its stadium is Lower.com Field, opened in 2021. Luis Mario Díaz Espinoza (born 6 December 1998) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Columbus Crew and the Costa Rica national team. Career Díaz started his career in the academy of his local team, A.D. Guanacasteca at the age of five, remaining with the academy until he was seventeen. José Artur de Lima Junior (born 11 March 1996), commonly known simply as Artur, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Major League Soccer club Houston Dynamo as a midfielder.
