2022 Chicago Marathon
The 2022 Chicago Marathon was the 44th edition of the annual marathon race in Chicago, held on Sunday, . An Elite Platinum Label marathon, it was the third of four World Marathon Majors events to be held over the span of six weeks. More than 40,000 runners were expected to take part in the event. Competitors Seifu Tura of Ethiopia, the winner of the previous year's race, is expected to return to defend his title. His compatriot Herpasa Negasa, who ran a marathon with a time of 2:03:40 in Dubai in 2019, is expected to join him. Also expected to make an appearance are Kenyan runners Bernard Koech and Elisha Rotich. Kenyan runner Ruth Chepng'etich, the defending champion, is the favorite to win the women's race. Also scheduled to join the field are Ethiopian runners Ruti Aga and Haven Hailu Desse, and Kenyan runners Celestine Chepchirchir and Vivian Kiplagat. Seifu Tura
Seifu Tura Abdiwak (born ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He won the 2021 Chicago Marathon and placed second at the 2022 Chicago Marathon. Career Seifu Tura originally specialized in middle-distance running, having won the 3000 m event of the 2015 Janusz Kusociński Memorial in Szczecin, Poland, with a time of 7:56.22. In 2017, he debuted over the marathon distance at the JoongAng Seoul Marathon, taking second place with a time of 2:09:26. After achieving a time of 2:04:44 at the 2018 Dubai Marathon, Tura won the 2018 Milano Marathon with a time of 2:09:04, despite having an issue with cramps. It was the runner's third attempt at the distance, six months after the first. Later that year, Tura also won the Shanghai Marathon, with a time of 2:09:18, a split second ahead of compatriot Tsegaye Mekonnen. Tatyana McFadden (russian: Татьяна Макфадден; born April 21, 1989) is an American Paralympic athlete of Russian descent competing in the category T54. McFadden has won twenty Paralympic medals in multiple Summer Paralympic Games. Biography McFadden was born in Leningrad, then Soviet Union, on 21 April 1989. She was born with spina bifida, a congenital disorder that paralyzed her from the waist down. After her birth mother abandoned her in an orphanage that was too poor to afford a wheelchair for her, she walked on her hands for the first six years of her life. The doctors told her she was so sick that she had very little time to live. While in the orphanage, she met Deborah McFadden, who was visiting Russia as a commissioner of disabilities for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Deborah and her partner Bridget O'Shaughnessy adopted Tatyana and took her to live in Baltimore.

Ruti Aga (born 16 January 1994) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. She won the women's race at the 2019 Tokyo Marathon and secured five other top three finishes at the World Marathon Majors. In 2012, Aga won the silver medal in the women's 5000 metres at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics held in Barcelona, Spain. In 2013, she finished in fifth place in the junior women's race at the 2013 IAAF World Cross Country Championships staged in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The same year, she won the gold medal in the women's 5000 metres at the 2013 African Junior Athletics Championships in Bambous, Mauritius. Ruth Chepng'etich, often spelt Ruth Chepngetich, (born 8 August 1994) is a Kenyan road racing athlete, who competes in the marathon and other long distance events. She was the 2019 Marathon World champion in hot and humid conditions. Chepng'etich twice won the Chicago Marathon, in 2021 and 2022. Elisha Rotich is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon. Bernard Kiprop Koech (born 31 January 1988) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in road running events. He has a personal best of 2:04:53 hours for the marathon and 59:10 minutes for the half marathon. He represented Kenya at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. Career Koech began to make an impact on the Kenyan national cross country running circuit in his late teens. The 2022 New York City Marathon, the 51st running of that city's premier long-distance race, was held on November 6, 2022. The race followed its traditional route, which passes through all five boroughs of New York City. It was the warmest New York City Marathon on record, with peak temperatures of .
