2022 British Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 2022 British motorcycle Grand Prix (officially known as the Monster Energy British Grand Prix) was the twelfth round of the 2022 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It was held at the Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone on 7 August 2022. After Augusto Fernández's win in the Moto2 class, Kalex secured its tenth straight Constructors' Championship. Background Riders' entries In the MotoGP class, Honda test rider Stefan Bradl continues to replace Marc Márquez in the Repsol Honda Team. In the Moto2 class, Piotr Biesiekirski is riding the Kalex of the SAG Team of the injured Gabriel Rodrigo in this Grand Prix, while Rory Skinner races as a wildcard with the American Racing Kalex. Piotr Biesiekirski (born 25 September 2001) is a Polish motorcycle racer. Career He is the first Polish racer to compete in the FIM CEV Moto2. In 2016, he won the Polish Moto3 Cup. Stefan Bradl (born 29 November 1989) is a German professional motorcycle racer. Bradl is best known for winning the Moto2 World Champion. Then he made the move to MotoGP in 2012 with LCR Honda. While in MotoGP, Bradl is best known for his performance at Laguna Seca getting the pole position and finishing second in the race behind Marc Marquez, ahead of Valentino Rossi. Grand Prix motorcycle racing is the premier championship of motorcycle road racing, which has been divided into three classes: MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3. Classes that have been discontinued include 500cc (although 500cc statistics are combined with MotoGP officially), 350cc, 250cc, 125cc, 80cc, 50cc and Sidecar. The Grand Prix Road-Racing World Championship was established in 1949 by the sport's governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), and is the oldest motorsport World Championship. 2022 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 2022 FIM MotoGP World Championship was the premier class of the 74th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Fabio Quartararo came into the season as the defending World Champion. Ducati secured the constructors' championship, with the factory Ducati Lenovo Team securing the teams' championship and factory rider Francesco Bagnaia achieving the riders' championship. In total, seven different riders and five manufacturers won Grands Prix during the season.
